The historic Tuscan agricultural fair, blending tradition and innovation
The Agrifiera of Pontasserchio is one of the most important and long-standing trade fairs in Tuscany. Its history is deeply rooted in the rural traditions of the Pisan area, dating back to the time of Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo. Today, the fair continues to draw thousands of visitors from across Tuscany and beyond to Pontasserchio, a village in the municipality of San Giuliano Terme (province of Pisa).
The fair takes place in the expansive "Tiziano Terzani" Peace Park, a green space spanning several hectares that serves as the beating heart of the regional agricultural scene for over ten days. Since 2025, the Agrifiera has been officially included in the calendar of Regional Events and Fairs of Tuscany, a recognition that certifies its identity and tourism value.
The exhibition path covers all sectors of the rural and green world:
Beyond the exhibition, the program offers over a hundred events, including conferences dedicated to sustainability, biodiversity, digital agriculture, and energy, as well as a rich evening entertainment schedule featuring concerts, DJ sets, comedy shows, and themed nights. For the little ones, there is an entire medieval village with leather and wood workshops, an educational farm, pony rides, and falconry demonstrations. The experience is completed by a covered street food area and nature initiatives like the bioblitz on Monte Pisano.
The Agrifiera is much more than a commercial fair: it is a grand popular festival that celebrates the peasant culture of Tuscany and the bond between the communities of the Pisan district and their land. Between tradition and innovation, it remains an unmissable spring event in Tuscany for enthusiasts, families, and curious visitors alike.
The 116th edition of the Agrifiera of Pontasserchio confirmed its role as a showcase for Tuscan agriculture, centered on the three A's: Agriculture, Environment, and Food (Agricoltura, Ambiente e Alimentazione). The inauguration saw the participation of the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani, the President of the Province of Pisa, Massimiliano Angori, and the Mayor of San Giuliano Terme, Matteo Cecchelli. Among the novelties were a medieval village for children and a large space dedicated to research and technological innovation in agriculture.
The 116th Agrifiera featured over one hundred events from April 23 to May 3, daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM with evening extensions.
The fair is held at the "Tiziano Terzani" Peace Park in Pontasserchio, a village in San Giuliano Terme (PI). By car, it is easily accessible from the SS12 Abetone and Brennero state road; there are large parking areas nearby. By train, the reference station is Pisa Centrale, from which you can continue via local transport. A free shuttle service is available on certain days.
The fair is open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with extended evening hours during concerts and shows. The entrance ticket costs 5 euros; there are several days with free admission. Entry is free for children up to 10 years old, seniors over 70, people with disabilities and their companions, and dogs on a leash. Tickets can be purchased at the fair or through the online portal.
