About Agosto a Corropoli

Every summer, the historic center of Corropoli in the province of Teramo comes alive with the Val Vibrata Traditional Food Festival, better known as "Agosto a Corropoli." Established in 1984 and organized by the Pro Loco Corropoli APS, it is one of the longest-running and most beloved festivals in the Teramo area of Abruzzo: five evenings of Val Vibrata culinary specialties, arts and crafts markets, and concerts under the stars in the town square. An event that blends rural tradition, great food, and live music.

A tradition spanning over forty years

The Val Vibrata Traditional Food Festival, known in the local summer calendar as "Agosto a Corropoli", is one of the most deeply rooted food and wine events in the Val Vibrata district. Established in 1984, the festival has spanned decades while preserving its original spirit: celebrating local folk cuisine and bringing residents and visitors together in the town square. Organized by the Pro Loco Corropoli APS with the support of the Municipality of Corropoli, the event takes place in the historic center, between Piazza Unitร  d'Italia and the village streets, in the province of Teramo, in the heart of Abruzzo.

The flavors of the Val Vibrata

For five consecutive evenings, food stalls enliven the town center, offering the great classics of the Abruzzo and Vibrata rural tradition. Among the specialties you can enjoy while strolling through the alleys:

  • Maccheroni alla chitarra, the signature pasta dish of Teramo cuisine;
  • Sausages and grilled meats;
  • Frittelle (fried dough) and fried cheese;
  • Roasted and boiled corn on the cob;
  • Fried olives, bread with ventricina salami, and other local products.

All accompanied by Val Vibrata wines, in a convivial atmosphere accessible to everyone.

Music, crafts, and evenings in the square

Alongside the culinary offerings, "Agosto a Corropoli" features live music and performances every night: from 80s and 90s cover bands to tributes to great Italian artists, ballroom dancing, and folk music groups performing pizzica, tarantella, and saltarello. The squares turn into open-air stages, while an arts and crafts market unfolds along the center's streets, featuring exhibitors and handmade products.

A highlight of the Corropoli summer

The festival is the centerpiece of Corropoli's summer, integrated into a rich calendar of events that spans the entire season. Easily accessible from the Adriatic coast and the towns of the Val Vibrata, it is an ideal opportunity to discover a village in the Teramo hinterland, its heritage, and its cuisine. Admission is free: you only pay for what you choose to consume at the stalls.
