About San Lorenzo Vini

In Castilenti, in the heart of the Teramo province, the San Lorenzo Winery opens the doors of the 16th-century Palazzo De Sterlich for "A Day at San Lorenzo Vini. Together through wine, culture, and nature": an immersive journey blending guided tastings, contemporary art, poetry, and storytelling. This annual event unites the winemaking excellence of the Galasso family with the cultural roots of the Colline Teramane, showcasing long-standing traditions alongside innovations like their classic method sparkling wine and the revival of ancient native grape varieties.

A day of wine, art, and territory in Castilenti

"A Day at San Lorenzo Vini" is the annual event hosted by the San Lorenzo Winery in the town of Castilenti, in the province of Teramo, nestled in the heart of the Colline Teramane. The event welcomes journalists, industry professionals, and enthusiasts for an immersive journey to discover the history of the Galasso family estate, the Abruzzo region, and its winemaking heritage.

Palazzo De Sterlich, the heart of the event

The day begins at the stunning Palazzo De Sterlich, a prestigious 16th-century residence in the historic center of Castilenti, acquired by the family in 2015. Within its walls, Gianluca Galasso shares the history of the palace and guides guests through the evocative barrel cellar, where some of the winery's most iconic labels are aged.

Art, poetry, and wine culture

The palace hosts exhibitions that engage with the world of wine. In recent editions, the "Correzione di farfalle" exhibition—born from the encounter between the sculptures of Pasquale Ricci and the poetry of Manuel Di Mattia, curated by Valentina Muzzi—explored themes of vulnerability and rebirth through over twenty works. Significant focus is also placed on the genius loci, the profound connection between wine, culture, and local identity.

Guided tastings and new releases

The centerpiece is the tasting led by winemaker Riccardo Brighigna Riccardo Brighigna, featuring vertical flights that highlight the evolution of the wines over time. Featured labels include the Trebbiano Casabianca, the Cerasuolo Casabianca, and the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane DOCG Oinos. There are also new releases: the classic method extra brut sparkling wine, produced in a limited run of one thousand bottles and aged for twenty-four months on the lees, and the recovery project for Maiolica, an ancient red grape variety documented in Abruzzo since 1875.

Lunch among the vineyards

The day concludes at B&B Il Giglio Rosso, part of the estate complex, with a tasting of current releases paired with creations by chef Guido Brandito. It is an experience that captures the soul of a territory in a single day, where viticulture becomes an expression of landscape, memory, and Abruzzese hospitality.

An excellence of Abruzzo winemaking

The San Lorenzo Winery represents one of the most compelling estates in the Colline Teramane, successfully blending family tradition, research into native grape varieties, and cultural engagement. "A Day at San Lorenzo Vini" is the ideal opportunity to understand how, in this corner of Abruzzo, wine becomes a narrative of community and landscape.
