The great seaside celebration in Piazza Aldo Moro, at the heart of the Zapponeta Blu Festival
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Zapponeta Fish Festival is the most anticipated event of the summer in the small town of Zapponeta, a seaside village overlooking the Gulf of Manfredonia in the Province of Foggia, in the Puglia Region. Every August, the central Piazza Aldo Moro transforms into a large open-air gastronomic village, where the delicacies of the sea and local traditional cuisine take center stage.
At the heart of the festival are the food stalls managed by the Pro Loco of Zapponeta, offering fresh catches prepared according to traditional recipes. The typical menu includes seafood pasta and fried mixed fish, accompanied by local produce such as onions, tomatoes, and potatoes, as well as bread, wine, water, and fruit. Alongside the fish stalls, there are areas dedicated to craft beer, markets, a cocktail bar, and a space reserved for children.
The Fish Festival is the flagship event of the Zapponeta Blu Festival, the summer series that has gained regional and national prestige over the years by showcasing the artistic, cultural, and culinary excellence of the territory. The stage in the square has hosted great names in Italian music: the 2025 edition featured Enzo Avitabile, Gigi Finizio, Mietta, Eugenio Bennato, and Sanremo winner Simone Cristicchi.
Zapponeta is a town known for its tourism and environmental commitment: its beaches have repeatedly earned the FEE Blue Flag, a recognition of water quality and services. The festival is therefore also an opportunity to discover an authentic stretch of the Gargano coast, between dunes, pine forests, and the genuine hospitality of the local community. The event is accompanied by cultural initiatives such as the Vincanto d'estate exhibition, collaborations with local artisan pastry shops, and charity stalls.
The Zapponeta Fish Festival returns, as is customary, in the month of August in Piazza Aldo Moro, as the flagship event of the Zapponeta Blu Festival. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the Pro Loco of Zapponeta. We expect the usual format with food stalls dedicated to fresh fish, craft beer, markets, and evening concerts in the square. The detailed program, including the date and musical guests, will be published here as soon as it is released by the organizers.
Zapponeta can be reached by car from the SS16 road, taking the Zapponeta/Litorale exit, about 40 km from Foggia. The nearest train station is in Foggia, which is connected by local buses. The reference airport is "Gino Lisa" in Foggia; larger airports include Bari-Palese and Naples-Capodichino.
Access to the festival is free. Gastronomic tastings are paid for at the stalls: in recent editions, the full typical menu (seafood pasta, fried mixed fish, bread, wine, water, and fruit) was priced at around 15 euros.
Arrive early to find parking and enjoy the square before the evening concerts. During the summer months, the Zapponeta coastline is very busy: it is advisable to book your accommodation in advance.
