About Zambana White Asparagus

Every spring, Zambana, a village in the municipality of Terre d'Adige in the province of Trento, celebrates its most prized product: white asparagus. The White Asparagus Festival, reaching its 37th edition in 2026, combines a food and wine fair with the Patronal Feast of Saints Philip and James. The calendar spans nearly a month, featuring tastings, guided field tours, markets, live music, and the historic Trofeo Asparago cycling race. The event is brought to life by over 250 volunteers and 18 local associations.

The white king of the Piana Rotaliana

The Zambana White Asparagus Festival is one of the most beloved food and wine events in Trentino. It takes place in Zambana, a village in the municipality of Terre d'Adige, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), right where Trentino asparagus farming was born: nearby Zambana Vecchia is considered the cradle of this crop. In 2026, the event reached its 37th edition, confirming itself as a defining appointment for the entire town.

A product of excellence

The white asparagus of the Piana Rotaliana is grown on about 40 hectares, with a regional production of approximately 2,000 quintals per year: half of this harvest comes from the Terre d'Adige area. During the peak days of the festival, over ten quintals of asparagus are cooked, starring in risottos, barley soups, and traditional dishes prepared by volunteers at the food stands.

A blend of fair and Patronal Feast

The festival intertwines its culinary aspect with the Patronal Feast of Saints Philip and James, the patrons of Zambana, celebrated in early May. This dual celebration enlivens the entire village along Corso Roma, with stalls, exhibitions, and community moments. In 2025, the event received the Quality Festival certification awarded by UNPLI (National Union of Pro Loco of Italy), a recognition reserved for excellence in local volunteering.
