The Roman leg of the international urban dance circuit at the PalaPellicone in Ostia
Every spring, the PalaPellicone in Ostia, just outside Rome, becomes the stage for international urban dance with World of Dance Rome, the Italian leg of one of the most prestigious dance circuits in the world. Born in the United States and now present in dozens of countries, the World of Dance format brings the energy of hip-hop, street dance, and group choreography to the capital, drawing thousands of dancers, choreographers, and fans from all over Italy and Europe to the Roman coast.
The event is held in the Ostia district, within the Municipality of Rome (Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Lazio), at the PalaPellicone, the Olympic center that hosts stages, international juries, and packed stands for the occasion. The artistic direction is led by Andrea Alemanno, who has turned the Roman event into a fixed meeting point for the urban dance community, blending athletic competition with spectacular performance.
The program typically spans three days. The first is dedicated to official workshops with international judges and masters, a unique opportunity to study alongside some of the most authoritative names on the global scene. The following days host the choreographic competitions themselves, with various divisions competing, and the freestyle battles that offer the audience spectacular duels.
The allure of World of Dance Rome also lies in what is at stake: the winning crews earn access to the WOD Summit, the circuit's world final held in Los Angeles. For Italian dancers, it is an opportunity to measure themselves against international excellence and represent our country's choreographic talent on the most coveted stage.
Beyond the competing athletes, the event attracts a large and diverse audience: families, young people, dance enthusiasts, and curious onlookers who crowd the PalaPellicone stands to witness an event full of rhythm, color, and energy. World of Dance Rome is now one of the most important showcases for urban dance in Italy and a tourist draw for Ostia and Rome in April.
From April 24 to 26, 2026, World of Dance Rome returned for its eleventh consecutive edition, confirming the PalaPellicone in Ostia as one of the most important urban dance events in Italy. Three days of workshops, battles, choreographic competitions, and showcases animated the Roman coast, with the participation of crews and dancers from all over Italy and abroad.
The event opened on Friday, April 24, with official workshops at the Molinari Art Center in Rome, continuing on Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26, with two days of competition at the PalaPellicone. Up for grabs, in addition to the titles in the various divisions, was access to the 2026 WOD Summit in Los Angeles.
A day of official workshops at the Molinari Art Center in Rome with the edition's international judges and masters: Shaun Evaristo (USA), David Cottle (UK), Sab McCarthy (UK), Carlos Gandia (Spain), and Mario Glez (Spain).
The PalaPellicone is located in Lido di Ostia, in the Municipality of Rome. By car, it can be reached via the Via del Mare or Via Cristoforo Colombo; by public transport, the Rome-Lido railway (Metromare line) connects Rome to the Ostia stations, from where you can continue by local bus.
Tickets to attend the competition days are available online via Vivaticket. Registration for competitions and workshops is handled through the official World of Dance Italy website.
We recommend checking the updated schedule and program on the official website and the organization's social media channels before heading to the venue.
