Wonder Christmas Land

A journey into the heart of Christmas in Gallipoli

Wonder Christmas Land is widely considered the largest Christmas-themed theatrical production in Southern Italy. Every year, between late November and Epiphany, the Galleria dei Due Mari in the historic center of Gallipoli (Lecce province, Puglia) is transformed into an enchanted realm populated by elves, sprites, and the traditional icons of the holiday season. This is not a simple market or a static village, but a true itinerant theatrical experience lasting approximately two hours, held entirely indoors, where the audience is guided through the story by professional actors.

The creators

The event is produced by POIEOFOLÀ-CostruzioniTeatrali in collaboration with the "Ragazzi di Via Malinconico," with creative direction by Roberto Marius Treglia and Alberto Greco. The production features over 40 actors and dancers, while the impressive sets are hand-crafted from papier-mâché by Salento artisans, perfectly blending traditional Puglian craftsmanship with live performance. The entrance to the experience is located at the Piazzetta dei Musicisti, along the ramparts of the picturesque Angevin Castle overlooking the sea.

What to expect along the way

Visitors enter a sequence of live-animated scenic environments: the magical Royal Hall of Santa Claus, the Snow Parade, the elves' workshops, and the grand audience with Santa Claus or the Befana. Each edition introduces a new theme and fresh attractions, including light installations, projections, and original characters.

Since its inception in 2015, Wonder Christmas Land has become one of the most anticipated Christmas events in Puglia, attracting families and visitors from across Salento and beyond. The choice of Gallipoli, with the charm of its ancient town surrounded by the sea, makes the experience even more immersive: Christmas meets the historical and artisanal heritage of the town, in a setting designed primarily for children and families but capable of enchanting adults as well.
