The MA/IN Festival (Music & Intermediality) is one of Italy's most radical events dedicated to experimental sound art, electroacoustic music, and audiovisual arts. Established in 2017 and promoted by the cultural association LOXOSconcept APS, the festival is headquartered in the small town of Castrignano de' Greci, in the heart of the Grecìa Salentina area in the Province of Lecce, with its primary venue at the KORA - Centro del Contemporaneo on Via Vittorio Emanuele.

A journey through sound, image, and digital media

MA/IN is an intermedial festival: its program ranges from electroacoustic music concerts to live audiovisual performances (live A/V and live cinema), as well as sound installations, video art, and digital art. The common thread is the exploration of contemporary artistic practices that emerge at the intersection of sound, image, and digital culture. Every year, artists are selected through an international open call, bringing talent from around the world to Salento alongside emerging Italian artists.

A geography connecting Puglia and Basilicata

The festival features an itinerant structure that links two regions in Southern Italy. The Apulian heart of the event unfolds between Castrignano de' Greci, at KORA, and the city of Lecce, which has hosted events at venues such as the Teatro Paisiello and the "Tito Schipa" Conservatory. The festival then continues into Basilicata, between Matera and Potenza, building a cultural bridge between Salento and Lucania.

In a village of the Grecìa Salentina, MA/IN introduces an avant-garde artistic language that engages with local history and the community. KORA - Centro del Contemporaneo, a public contemporary art museum, is its natural home: a space that welcomes visual and sonic research, transforming Castrignano de' Greci into an international reference point for experimental music in Puglia.
