The wild boar feast in the heart of the Monti Dauni villages
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every summer, the Wild Boar Festival brings the village of Pietramontecorvino to life. Located in the province of Foggia, it is one of the most charming towns in the Monti Dauni, the hilly amphitheater that marks the northern border of Puglia. The event is one of the most anticipated gastronomic highlights of the local summer, attracting crowds from across the Capitanata region and beyond, all drawn by the chance to enjoy traditional rural and game-based cuisine in a festive village atmosphere.
The heart of the festival is the wild boar, prepared according to time-honored local recipes. At the food stalls, the dish is served in two classic ways:
Alongside the wild boar, the stalls offer other typical local products, creating a culinary journey that tells the story of Monti Dauni cuisine. The evening is accompanied by folk music, entertainment, and the simple, warm conviviality that is the soul of village festivals.
The festival is organized by the Pietramontecorvino chapter of the CPA (Hunting-Fishing-Environment), led by president Michele Iadarola. Beyond the celebration, the association's stated goal is to promote environmental awareness, hunting, and fishing, and to highlight the local area. Thus, the festival also serves as an opportunity to showcase the village and its traditions.
Visiting the festival is also a great excuse to discover Pietramontecorvino, an ancient village perched on a hill with its Terravecchia—the medieval stone core dominated by a tower and palace that recount centuries of history. This exceptional setting turns the gastronomic evening into an experience of landscape and identity, amidst stone alleys and panoramic views over the hills of the province of Foggia, in the most authentic part of inland Puglia.
The dates for the 2026 edition of the Wild Boar Festival have not yet been announced. Based on previous editions, the event takes place in August and is organized by the Pietramontecorvino CPA chapter, featuring wild boar cooked according to tradition, local products, and folk music. The detailed program will be published closer to the event.

By car: take the A14 motorway to the Foggia exit, then follow the SS16 and provincial roads towards the Monti Dauni; from Lucera, head up towards Pietramontecorvino. The village is about an hour from Foggia. A car is recommended, as the inland area has limited public transport in the evening.
The festival takes place in summer, during August, starting in the early evening. Dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: it is best to check the official channels of the Pietramontecorvino CPA chapter closer to the event.
Combine the evening with a walk through the historic center and the Terravecchia area. Bring cash for the food stalls.
