The winter wild boar festival in Cellamare, a one-of-a-kind event in the province of Bari
The Wild Boar and Fine Wine Festival is a young gastronomic event held in Cellamare, a small town in the metropolitan city of Bari, in Apulia. Established in 2025, the festival immediately established itself as a unique event in the province of Bari: it is the only local manifestation entirely dedicated to wild boar meat, taking place over a January weekend that blends a village feast with a reflection on wildlife management.
The heart of the festival is the table. In the square, you can enjoy orecchiette with wild boar ragù, a symbol of the meeting between the most iconic dish of Apulian cuisine and game meat, along with braised wild boar, local bread, and a selection of local wines. A simple and honest menu, designed to showcase the authentic flavors of the Bari hinterland.
Beyond the tastings, the evening offers live music and comedy shows that enliven the square until late. However, the festival also stands out for its institutional side: each edition opens with a conference dedicated to establishing a controlled and sustainable supply chain for the conscious consumption of Apulian game meat, featuring veterinary experts, the agricultural sector, and regional institutions.
The event is promoted by the URCA association (wildlife and environmental management) together with the Pro Loco of Cellamare, with the patronage of the Municipality of Cellamare and the Apulia Region. Admission is free, and the festival has become an opportunity to promote Cellamare and highlight a niche product of Apulian agri-food excellence.
The second edition of the Wild Boar and Fine Wine Festival took place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Cellamare, confirming the formula that combines gastronomy, entertainment, and institutional reflection. The day opened at 5:00 PM at Casa Castellana with a conference dedicated to establishing a controlled and sustainable supply chain for the conscious consumption of Apulian game meat. From 8:00 PM, the festivities moved to Piazza Aldo Moro for tastings and entertainment. The event, with free admission, was promoted by the URCA association and the Pro Loco of Cellamare with the patronage of the Municipality and the Apulia Region.
The festival takes place in the center of Cellamare (BA), in Apulia. Tastings are held in the square, while the opening conference is hosted in an indoor venue in the town.
The event is held on a day in late January: conference in the late afternoon, gastronomic feast from the evening onwards.
Free admission. Tastings are paid according to the menu proposed by the stands.
Cellamare is about fifteen kilometers from Bari and can be reached by car via the state road connecting the regional capital to the inland towns.
