A castle bridging art and nature in the Granda
The Walks in Biodiversity bring visitors to the Castello della Manta, in the municipality of Manta in the Province of Cuneo, for a weekend dedicated to exploring the natural landscape surrounding one of the most beloved FAI sites in Piedmont. The event is part of the #FAIbiodiversità national campaign and celebrates World Biodiversity Day on May 22nd, featuring over one hundred initiatives organized across twenty-five FAI properties from the north to the south of the Peninsula.
The Monviso Biosphere Reserve
The Castello della Manta is located within the UNESCO MAB Monviso Biosphere Reserve, a territory where a wealth of plant and animal species intertwines with centuries of history. This unique position makes the manor a privileged observation point: from the garden and the hill in front, the view sweeps across the woods, the farmland, and the peaks that frame the Cuneo plains.
Bees, woods, and guided tours
The program balances culture and nature. Inside the castle, guided tours are scheduled for the residence of the Counts of Saluzzo della Manta, home to one of Europe's most extraordinary late-Gothic fresco cycles, including the famous frescoed Baronial Hall. Outdoors, an educational and sensory trail curated by Mieli Amel allows visitors to discover the world of bees through an observation hive, where you can admire the honeycomb with the queen bee and her workers, followed by a honey tasting.
In the afternoon, accompanied by Monviso Park rangers, visitors walk along a stretch of the woods and the hill in front of the castle to discover its characteristics and admire the local flora and fauna.

Walks in Biodiversity — edition 2026
Nel fine settimana del 23 e 24 maggio 2026 il Castello della Manta ha aderito alla campagna nazionale #FAIbiodiversità con un programma che ha unito arte e natura. La giornata si è articolata tra visite al castello e attività all'aperto, con orari distribuiti dalla mattina al tardo pomeriggio.
Tra le proposte: il percorso sulle api a cura di Mieli Amel, con arnia da osservazione e degustazione di miele, e la passeggiata pomeridiana nel bosco e sulla collina davanti al castello accompagnati dai guardiaparco del Parco del Monviso.

How to get there
By car from Saluzzo in a few minutes; from Cuneo or Turin via the motorway and state road network towards Saluzzo. The nearest train station is Saluzzo, from where you can continue by car or bus.
Tickets and reservations

Tips
Wear comfortable shoes for the woodland walk and bring a basket if you wish to stop for a picnic in the garden.
