The summer festival in the village of Tressilla, Baselga di Pinè
Tressilla is one of the hamlets of Baselga di Pinè, in the province of Trento, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. Nestled between 914 and 990 meters above sea level, this small community on the Pinè Plateau preserves an ancient devotion to Saint Lucy, to whom its characteristic little church is dedicated. The church dates back to before 1724 and reached its current form following major restorations between 1836 and 1842.
The name of the festival plays on the concept of anticipation: the actual Santa Luzia Festival is celebrated in the depths of winter on December 13th, the patron saint's day, featuring the traditional donkey procession and an evening food and wine tour. "Waiting for Santa Luzia" is its summer counterpart: a village festival designed to bring people together under the July sun, when the hamlet is at its most vibrant and welcoming, in anticipation of the main December event.
The event takes place on the first (or second) Sunday of July and is entirely organized by the Santa Luzia Committee volunteers, including many local youths who are hard at work from early morning in the kitchen and setting up the venue. The heart of the day is the 11:30 AM Holy Mass in the church of Santa Lucia, followed by a community lunch featuring traditional Trentino dishes. The afternoon is dedicated to entertainment: bouncy castles for the little ones, a foosball tournament, musical performances, and the grand raffle with the drawing held in the late afternoon. The bar remains open in the evening, serving sandwiches for those who wish to end the day in good company.
"Waiting for Santa Luzia" is an authentic celebration, far removed from mass tourism: there is no entry fee, but guests have the opportunity to support the community through the lunch and the raffle, with proceeds helping to maintain the church and the village's traditions. It is the perfect opportunity to discover a lesser-known corner of the Pinè Plateau and experience the simple, warm hospitality of Tressilla.
The summer festival of the Tressilla hamlet returned on Sunday, July 5, 2026, confirming the event's well-established formula. From the morning, the Santa Luzia Committee volunteers were hard at work in the kitchen and setting up the venue.
The central moment was the 11:30 AM Holy Mass in the church of Santa Lucia, followed by a community lunch featuring traditional Trentino dishes. The afternoon was dedicated to games and entertainment — including a bouncy castle for children, a foosball tournament, and musical performances — culminating in the highly anticipated raffle drawing in the late afternoon. The bar service continued into the evening with sandwiches.
