The food and wine festival of the Vesuvius Terroir by AIS Campania
VulcanicAIS - Tasting Vesuvius is the food and wine event organized by the Italian Sommelier Association of Campania (AIS Vesuvius delegation), dedicated to the wines and flavors born at the foot of the volcano. Created to promote the so-called Vesuvius Terroir, the festival brings together wineries, producers, restaurateurs, and culinary artisans in one grand evening, offering the public and industry professionals a sensory journey through the region's finest products.
The format is a rich walk-around tasting: tastings, sample stands, and sensory paths guided by AIS sommeliers lead visitors to discover the native Vesuvius grape varieties, primarily Piedirosso and Caprettone, whose grapes find an unmistakable minerality, freshness, and savoriness in the volcanic soils. Alongside the wines, there is space for craft beers, extra virgin olive oils, coffee, cheeses, honey, sweets, and other traditional Campanian delicacies.
The program features cooking shows by prestigious chefs and master pizza makers, who showcase local cuisine live. The evening is enlivened by piano music and the slow smoke of the Club Amici del Toscano, in a convivial atmosphere that blends wine culture with the pleasure of dining. The 2025 edition, hosted at Villa Signorini in Ercolano, saw over one hundred wineries and producers participate, with more than eight hundred attendees.
The event is firmly rooted in the Vesuvius district, in the Province of Naples and more broadly in Campania: over the years it has been held in Ercolano at Villa Signorini, and for its tenth anniversary, it reached Villa Minieri in Nola. It enjoys the patronage of the Campania Region, the Vesuvius Wine Protection Consortium, the Vesuvius National Park, and the host municipalities, confirming the value of a project that promotes 'Made in Vesuvius' and the work of the companies that safeguard this unique territory.
The tenth edition of VulcanicAIS - Tasting Vesuvius was held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 7:30 PM, at Villa Minieri Eventi on Via San Francesco 41 in Nola (NA). To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the event, AIS Campania brought the traveling format of the festival to the Nola setting, keeping intact the spirit that celebrates the Vesuvius territory.
The theme of the edition, Made in Vesuvius, focused on the companies of the Vesuvius Terroir and native grape varieties such as Piedirosso and Caprettone.
Ercolano is easily accessible by train via the Circumvesuviana line (Ercolano Scavi stop) and by rail from Naples. By car, take the Ercolano exit on the A3 Naples-Salerno motorway. The nearest airport is Naples-Capodichino.
Participation is by ticket (25 euros in recent editions), with advance purchase recommended due to high attendance. Information and reservations: [email protected].
Plan for a dedicated evening: the event starts around 7:30 PM and the tasting paths require time to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace.
