Charity markets and a living nativity scene in Piazza Duomo, in the heart of Acerra's historic center
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every December, Piazza Duomo, in the heart of Acerra's historic center, hosts the Charity Christmas Markets, an event that weaves the festive spirit with social commitment. Just a short walk from the Castello Baronale, home to the famous Pulcinella Museum, the decorated stalls create a warm, family-friendly atmosphere that brings the whole community together.
The event is promoted by the Caritas day center in collaboration with the Locanda del Gigante, the Arcobaleno Cooperative, and local families. More than just a standard Christmas fair, it is a gathering where purchasing a small handcrafted item or tasting a local product becomes an act of sharing. Proceeds support the local Caritas charity initiatives for those in need.
The heart of the initiative is the living nativity scene created by the children of the Caritas center, which brings the scenes of the Nativity to life among the alleys and spaces of the historic center. Surrounding the nativity are the market stalls, where you can sample various local products and discover regional craftsmanship, in a journey that celebrates the popular traditions of Acerra and the Campania region.
The program is enriched with cultural events spread throughout the center: visits to Casa Teatro by Vincenzo Pulcrano, the photographic exhibition I vicoli di Pulcinella (The Alleys of Pulcinella) by Vincenzo Piscopo, and musical entertainment that accompanies the evenings. Music, folk songs, and tastings transform Piazza Duomo into an open-air Christmas lounge, perfect for families, children, and visitors of all ages.
Set in the historic center of Acerra, in the province of Naples, the markets are the perfect opportunity to discover a city deeply linked to the Pulcinella mask. Its proximity to the Castello Baronale and its museum makes a visit a delightful itinerary through culture, history, and festivities, in the true spirit of a Christmas in Campania.
The Charity Christmas Markets of Acerra are expected to return in December 2026 in Piazza Duomo, in the heart of the historic center. While awaiting official confirmation of dates and the program from the Caritas day center, the event is expected to maintain its successful formula: a living nativity scene, charity stalls, tastings of local products, and musical moments for families and visitors.
We recommend checking for updated information on the channels of the Diocese and Caritas of Acerra before planning your visit.
