A gourmet stroll through the vaults of Fraviano

The Vòlti di Somacort is one of the most beloved summer events in Vermiglio, located in the Val di Sole, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. The event takes place in the hamlet of Fraviano and takes its name from the vòlti, a local dialect term for the ancient stone vaults and arches that define the village's historic center. For one night, these courtyards and passageways come alive with lights, aromas, and music, creating an authentic open-air gourmet experience.

The gourmet trail

The heart of the event is the walk between the various vaults, where local associations set up their tasting stations. Along the route, you can sample traditional Trentino dishes: mountain pasture cheeses, sausage with sauerkraut, herb gnocchi, barley soup, potato 'tortel' with local cold cuts, and desserts like 'strauben' with berry jam and apple strudel. The tastings are perfectly complemented by local wines and regional products.

Music, art, and entertainment

Beyond the excellent food, Vòlti di Somacort offers a rich entertainment program spread throughout the village streets. Between one vault and the next, you will encounter costumed stilt walkers performing roaming acts, clowns, comedic magic shows, face painting, and activities dedicated to children. There is also live music, art corners, and exhibitions showcasing the culture and traditions of the Vermiglio community, including re-enactments of ancient mountain crafts.

A community event

The event is the result of the shared efforts of Vermiglio's numerous volunteer associations, who collaborate every year to bring the village courtyards to life. This collective spirit, combined with the intimate and authentic atmosphere of Fraviano's streets, makes Vòlti di Somacort a unique opportunity to experience the hospitality and flavors of the Trentino mountains.

How it works

The format offers a single ticket for the full tasting trail (drinks excluded) or, alternatively, the option to wander freely between the vaults and pay directly at individual stations. The event is held in the Municipality of Vermiglio, in the Autonomous Province of Trento.
