About Voce all'Autore

Voce all'Autore is Carrara's summer literary festival, located in the heart of the Massa-Carrara province. From late June to late August, writers meet their readers in the garden of Palazzo Binelli to discuss their books under the stars. These free-entry evenings are curated by the Lodovici Civic Library. The 2026 edition features sixteen meetings with major names in Italian fiction, along with special events for younger readers in Piazza Gramsci.

A literary festival under the stars in Carrara

Every summer, Voce all'Autore transforms the garden of Palazzo Binelli, in the historic center of Carrara, into an open-air literary salon. Promoted by the Municipality of Carrara and organized by the C. V. Lodovici Civic Library in collaboration with local bookstores, the festival invites writers to engage directly with their readers. Presentations, readings, and conversations bring the Apuan evenings to life from late June through August.

The 2026 edition

The 2026 program is part of the city's official summer calendar, Quest'estate succede, curated by the Municipality's Culture, Tourism, and Commerce departments. Sixteen meetings are scheduled for adults and young people, running from June 23 to August 27. The opening event takes place at Palazzo Binelli, kicking off a packed calendar of appearances by contemporary Italian authors, interspersed with evenings designed for younger audiences.

The garden of Palazzo Binelli

The heart of the festival is the historic garden of Palazzo Binelli, home to the foundation linked to the city: an intimate and evocative setting, perfect for evening presentations. Evenings dedicated to young readers move to Piazza Gramsci, in front of the Lodovici Library, to introduce children and families to reading in an accessible and welcoming urban space.

An Apuan tradition

Over the years, Voce all'Autore has become one of the most anticipated cultural events of the Carrara summer, bringing prominent names from the national literary scene to the city of marble. Past editions have paid tribute to great authors such as Franz Kafka and Andrea Camilleri, weaving great literature together with local narratives. For those visiting Tuscany and the Apuan coast in summer, it is the ideal opportunity to combine the discovery of the marble quarries and the Marina di Carrara coastline with an evening of good reading under the sky.

Free for everyone

True to its mission as a public and inclusive festival, Voce all'Autore maintains free admission to all meetings, subject to availability. It is a civic library project designed to bring books and their authors closer to the citizens and visitors of Carrara.
