About Massa Summer Festival

The Massa Summer Festival is the grand showcase of summer events in the Municipality of Massa, in the province of Massa-Carrara. From June to September, the city comes alive with concerts, theatrical performances, family-friendly festivals, and light music evenings. Piazza Aranci becomes the stage for big names in Italian music and entertainment, while Marina di Massa, Villa Rinchiostra, and the surrounding villages host the free 'Palcoscenici Stellati' (Starry Stages) series, featuring theater, dance, and readings under the stars for all ages.

The summer of events in Massa

Every year, from the beginning of June until the threshold of autumn, the Municipality of Massa gathers its entire summer program under one banner: the Massa Summer Festival. It is a packed calendar that transforms the capital of the province of Massa-Carrara, in Tuscany, into a widespread stage. Free shows and major ticketed events alternate between the historic center, the coast of Marina di Massa, and the numerous local districts, engaging audiences of all ages.

Piazza Aranci, the heart of the big names

The city's living room, the elegant Piazza Aranci at the foot of the Ducal Palace, hosts the series of concerts and shows of national appeal. Here, pop music artists, symphonic tributes dedicated to great international bands, comedians, and stars of Italian theater and television take the stage. It is the go-to destination for those seeking the highlight events of the Massa summer, from family concerts to author monologues, and the major tours that close the season at the end of September.

Marina di Massa and the coast

On the coastline, Marina di Massa offers evenings of music, DJ sets, the traditional 'Notte delle Stelle' (Night of the Stars), and the unmissable fireworks display in mid-August. The Beach Arena in Partaccia also hosts stops for touring events dedicated to younger audiences, with music and entertainment continuing late into the night.

Palcoscenici Stellati: the free festival

The cultural soul of the city's summer, Palcoscenici Stellati is a series of free performances organized by the Municipality of Massa, featuring music, dance, and theater. It is divided into several sections that touch Villa Rinchiostra, Villa Cuturi, and Piazza Betti in Marina, as well as the districts of Borgo del Ponte, Mirteto, Bergiola, Forno, Ronchi, San Carlo, and Canevara: 'La Via Lattea' for music, dance, and theater; 'Il Teatro Prรชt-ร -Porter' in the villages and on the coast; 'La Costellazione di Orione' for children; and 'Librisรฌ sotto le stelle' with aloud readings and workshops for families.

A program for the whole family

The strength of the Massa Summer Festival lies in its variety: alongside big-name concerts, you will find comedy shows, children's theater, circus acts, fire performances, creative workshops, and candlelight evenings. It is a comprehensive cultural offering that tells the story of the identity of Massa and the entire Apuan Riviera, where the sea of the Apuan Alps meets the great tradition of live performance.

Massa Summer Festival โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Massa Summer Festival brings a season full of big names to Massa: from Gianni Morandi to Luca Argentero, from Paolo Ruffini to Cristina D'Avena. Piazza Aranci hosts eight major musical events with concerts and symphonic tributes, accompanied by the free shows of Palcoscenici Stellati at Villa Rinchiostra, in Marina di Massa, and in the surrounding districts.

The Massa Summer Festival 2026 opens on June 13 and closes on September 24 with the grand concert by Gianni Morandi. The program, presented by the Municipality of Massa in May 2026, alternates major ticketed events at Piazza Aranci with the free shows of the Palcoscenici Stellati series, distributed between the center, the coast of Marina di Massa, and the local districts.

Among the protagonists of the summer are names from Italian music, theater, and television, as well as numerous symphonic tributes dedicated to great international bands. A proposal designed to engage all ages, from children to pop music enthusiasts.
