About Mythoslogos

For an entire summer, from June to September, Sarzana and the Val di Magra become a stage for a dialogue with the ancient world. Mythoslogos is the festival conceived and directed by the classicist Angelo Tonelli, dedicated to the wisdom, philosophy, and art of Greece and Rome. Through conferences, theatrical performances, dramatized readings, seminars, and live music, the event intertwines classical rigor with poetic experience, in the Province of La Spezia.

A bridge to ancient wisdom

Mythoslogos is a unique festival: since 2014, it has brought a journey of rediscovery of the wisdom, philosophy, and art of the Greco-Roman world to Sarzana (Province of La Spezia). Its creator and director is the classicist and poet Angelo Tonelli, a profound connoisseur of ancient thought, who makes it an opportunity for cultural deepening and, at the same time, for spiritual and aesthetic experience.

A program spanning a summer

Unlike festivals concentrated in a few days, Mythoslogos unfolds from June to September, with events spread across Sarzana and the evocative locations of the Val di Magra, down to the banks of the Magra river. The program alternates academic conferences, theatrical performances, dramatized readings, theoretical-practical seminars, and live music, with guests from the academic and artistic worlds, both Italian and international.

Between study and poetry

The heart of the festival lies in the seminars curated by Angelo Tonelli on the great themes of Greek wisdom—from Pythagoras to Empedocles—and in the poetic-musical events such as the "Songs of the Vastest River," recitals on the Magra river that combine word and sound. A festival for those who wish to approach ancient thought in a living, non-purely academic way.
