Wisdom, philosophy, and art of the ancient world, all summer long
Mythoslogos is a unique festival: since 2014, it has brought a journey of rediscovery of the wisdom, philosophy, and art of the Greco-Roman world to Sarzana (Province of La Spezia). Its creator and director is the classicist and poet Angelo Tonelli, a profound connoisseur of ancient thought, who makes it an opportunity for cultural deepening and, at the same time, for spiritual and aesthetic experience.
Unlike festivals concentrated in a few days, Mythoslogos unfolds from June to September, with events spread across Sarzana and the evocative locations of the Val di Magra, down to the banks of the Magra river. The program alternates academic conferences, theatrical performances, dramatized readings, theoretical-practical seminars, and live music, with guests from the academic and artistic worlds, both Italian and international.
The heart of the festival lies in the seminars curated by Angelo Tonelli on the great themes of Greek wisdom—from Pythagoras to Empedocles—and in the poetic-musical events such as the "Songs of the Vastest River," recitals on the Magra river that combine word and sound. A festival for those who wish to approach ancient thought in a living, non-purely academic way.
The XIII edition of Mythoslogos returns to animate the summer of Sarzana from June 12 to September 24, 2026. Conceived and directed by Angelo Tonelli, the festival, as usual, offers conferences, theatrical performances, dramatized readings, theoretical-practical seminars on Greek wisdom (from Pythagoras to Empedocles), and poetic-musical events, spread throughout the season. The complete program, with dates and guests, will be released on the official website.
The 2026 event schedule will be published by the Mythoslogos Association closer to the dates. Established festival structure:
By train: Sarzana station on the Genoa–La Spezia–Pisa line. By car: A12 or A15, Sarzana exit. Events take place in various locations in Sarzana and the Val di Magra.
Many events are free admission; some seminars and performances have limited seating and require booking. Full program on the official website.
