The race that embraces Lake Viverone, featuring both competitive running and a fun run for everyone.
The Viverone Lake Tour is one of the most beloved spring running events in the Biella area. The event takes place in the municipality of Viverone, in the Province of Biella, on the shores of a body of water nestled between the morainic hills bordering the Canavese region: Lake Viverone is the third-largest lake in Piedmont and the true star of this race.
Organized by the Viverone Pro Loco, the event combines the competitive spirit of running with the popular appeal of a walk open to everyone, in a day that attracts hundreds of participants every year, including athletes, families, and enthusiasts.
The program includes two distinct options:
The start and finish lines are located at the municipal multi-purpose gym on Via Gattinara, the logistical heart of the day.
Beyond the sporting component, the Lake Tour is above all a village festival: the collaboration between the Pro Loco and local athletic clubs, such as Atletica Santhià , ensures a well-tested organization. At the end of the race, all participants are invited to the pasta party, a convivial moment that closes the event and sums up its welcoming spirit.
For those visiting the area, the race is also an excellent opportunity to discover Lake Viverone and its surroundings, including historic villages, medieval fortified granaries (ricetti), and the trails of the Serra Morenica of Ivrea, in a corner of Piedmont suspended between the Biella and Canavese regions.
The tenth edition of the Viverone Lake Tour, on Sunday, April 26, 2026, marked an attendance record in the history of the event. The 19 km competitive race, along the entire perimeter of the lake, gathered 235 athletes, while the 8 km 'Two Municipalities Tour' recreational walk between Viverone and Roppolo saw over 250 people at the start. The day concluded with the usual pasta party offered by the Viverone Pro Loco.
A moment of silence was observed before the start.
Winners of the 19 km competitive race: Michele Fontana (G.P. Parco Apuane) in 1h06'45" for the men and Isabella Caposieno in 1h13'22" for the women. In the 8 km walk, the first to cross the finish line were Marco Schiapparelli and Policarpo Crisci (30'25") and, among the women, Elisabetta Alfieri (38'20").
Viverone can be reached by car from the A4/A5 motorway (Santhià or Albiano d'Ivrea exits); the meeting point is the municipal multi-purpose gym on Via Gattinara. By train, the nearest station is Santhià , with a short drive to follow.
Registration takes place on the morning of the race starting at 8:00 AM at the municipal gym and online via the iRunning platform.
Wear sportswear and suitable running shoes; the 8 km walk is also suitable for families and children. A pasta party is provided for all participants at the end of the race.
