About Trail delle Colline

The Trail delle Colline is an autumn trail running event connecting Chivasso to Castagneto Po, in the Metropolitan City of Turin. Starting from the Po plains and finishing at the Romanesque Sanctuary of San Genesio, the route winds through river parks and the trails of the Bosco del Vaj Nature Reserve. More than just a race, it is a charitable sporting event rooted in values of nature, respect, and community, bringing together athletes, walkers, and families. The 2026 edition marks the eighth year, featuring the traditional Inclusive Walk dedicated to the memory of Fabio Santa.

The Trail delle Colline, between Chivasso and Castagneto Po

The Trail delle Colline is one of the most cherished events in the autumn running calendar of the Metropolitan City of Turin, in Piedmont. Organized by the ASD Hope Running APS association, the event kicks off every year from the center of Chivasso and concludes in the territory of Castagneto Po, at the foot of the picturesque Romanesque Sanctuary of San Genesio. The route captures the diverse landscapes of this corner of Piedmont in just a few hours of running: the alluvial plains of the Po River, rolling woodlands, and viewpoints overlooking the Turin plains.

A route through river parks and the Bosco del Vaj

The heart of the experience is the course. After starting from Piazza della Repubblica in Chivasso, athletes traverse the Bricel Park and the Sabiunรจ Park, cross the bridge over the Po River, and tackle the climb along the Berruti trail, which winds through the Bosco del Vaj Nature Reserve, ending at the church of San Genesio in Castagneto Po. The initiative is supported by the management body of the Piedmontese Po Protected Areas and collaborates with the Chivasso section of the Italian Alpine Club for the maintenance of the hillside trails.

More than just a race: the Inclusive Walk

Alongside the competitive trail running event, the program has always included activities open to everyone. Recent editions have featured an eco-friendly and charitable walk dedicated to trail conservation, as well as an Inclusive Walk in memory of Fabio Santa, designed to allow those who are usually excluded to experience the mountains. This is the spirit of the event, summarized in the three values chosen by the organizers: nature, respect, and community.

Sport, solidarity, and the local area

The Trail delle Colline has grown with every edition, attracting hundreds of participants, including athletes and walkers. Beyond the competitive aspect, the event is a celebration for Chivasso, Castagneto Po, and the entire hillside region, uniting local authorities, volunteer associations, and citizens around themes of social inclusion, solidarity, and environmental respect. It is a tangible way to rediscover, whether running or walking, the hills and woods that frame the lower Canavese area.

Trail delle Colline โ€” edition 2026

The eighth edition of the Trail delle Colline is confirmed for Sunday, October 4, 2026, starting from Chivasso and finishing at the Sanctuary of San Genesio in Castagneto Po. As every year, the event combines the trail running race with the Inclusive Walk Memorial Fabio Santa, in the spirit of nature, respect, and community.

The 8th edition of the Trail delle Colline will take place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, organized by ASD Hope Running APS along the classic route connecting Chivasso to Castagneto Po, up to the Sanctuary of San Genesio. In 2026, the program will once again feature, alongside the competitive trail running race, the Inclusive Walk Memorial Fabio Santa, which is open to everyone.

At the moment, the details of the 2026 program (routes, distances, elevation gain, start times, aid stations, and prices) have not yet been published by the organization. Registration will open in March 2026 on the WedoSport platform. Official updates will be released on the traildellecolline.it website and the event's WhatsApp channel.
