Supino's festival dedicated to the Lepini Mountains, featuring hikes, music, and traditional games at Piana di Santa Serena
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Vivere la Montagna is one of the most iconic events of the summer in Supino, a village in the province of Frosinone nestled on the slopes of the Lepini Mountains in southern Lazio. More than just a festival, it is a true community day at altitude: the town heads up to the Piana di Santa Serena, a vast plateau at approximately 1,100 meters, transforming it into an open-air village filled with hikes, music, traditional games, and Ciociaria flavors. All of this follows one clear rule, repeated every year: have fun, but always with respect for the mountains.
The stage for this event is truly unforgettable. Piana di Santa Serena is a grassy basin surrounded by beech forests and pastures, dominated by Monte Gemma, which at 1,457 meters marks the border between the provinces of Frosinone, Rome, and Latina. From here, guided hikes set off to help participants discover the flora and fauna of the Lepini range, led by qualified guides and, in various editions, in collaboration with sections of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) such as the Alatri branch.
The typical program for the day is designed for both adults and children:
The event was born in the early 2000s through the initiative of the Municipality of Supino—specifically the Department of the Environment—together with the Pro Loco Supino and the Supino in Vetrina association. In September 2019, it celebrated its 18th edition, followed by the 19th in 2022, and reached the milestone of its 20th edition in August 2023, confirming its status as one of the longest-running nature events in the province of Frosinone.
Today, Vivere la Montagna is a highlight of Supino 360° — Identity, Traditions, and Community Celebration, the calendar through which the Municipality brings together events from July, August, and September: from the Gnocchitti Festival to the international horn players' meeting «Guelfo Nalli», and from the patronal feasts of San Lorenzo and San Cataldo to cinema under the stars. Within this program, the day at altitude represents the green and sporty soul of the town, inviting everyone to look at Supino from above, from the meadows of Santa Serena.
Vivere la Montagna is the ideal opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Lazio that remains off the beaten path of mass tourism: you can hike in the mountains with those who truly know them, eat local Ciociaria food, play games like in the old days, and breathe in the atmosphere of a community that has turned its own mountain into a celebration.
For summer 2026, Vivere la Montagna is featured in the August program of Supino 360°, the unique calendar through which the Municipality of Supino gathers events for July, August, and September, covering traditions, culture, music, sports, and gastronomy. The precise date for the day at Piana di Santa Serena has not yet been officially announced.
While awaiting the final program, the format is expected to follow that of previous editions: guided hikes on the trails of the Lepini Mountains towards Monte Gemma, activities for families and children, traditional games, music, and food stands at altitude. Updates will be shared by the Municipality of Supino, the Pro Loco, and the event's social media channels.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition has not yet been published. The event is announced for August 2026 within the Supino 360° calendar; according to the traditional format, the day at Piana di Santa Serena will include guided hikes, family activities, traditional games, music, and food stalls. The full program with dates and times will be communicated by the organizers.
