The beer festival in the medieval village of Ciociaria
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Fumone Beer Fest is one of the most anticipated evenings of the Fumone summer. It takes place in the Municipality of Fumone, in the province of Frosinone, in the heart of southern Lazio, and is part of the official "Estate a Fumone" program promoted by the municipal administration together with the Pro Loco Fumone degli Ernici APS. It is a village festival in the most authentic sense of the term: draft beer, local cuisine, music, and plenty of people gathering through the village streets until late at night.
Fumone is one of the most characteristic villages in Ciociaria. Perched at over 780 meters in altitude, it dominates the entire Sacco Valley and is famous for its Rocca (fortress), an ancient papal stronghold where Pope Celestine V was imprisoned after his abdication, and for the hanging garden that crowns the top of the hill, one of the highest in Europe. The popular saying "when Fumone smokes, the whole countryside trembles" recalls the town's ancient function as a signal tower: fires were lit from the top to warn Rome of approaching dangers. It is in this setting that the beer evening comes to life.
The formula is the tried-and-tested one of Lazio village beer festivals, reinterpreted in a Fumone style:
The Beer Fest is not an isolated event: it is one of the pieces of a summer calendar that enlivens the village from July until the end of August. The 2026 edition of the festival opened on Saturday, July 4th with the long-awaited "Cantine Riaperte" (Reopened Cellars), the evening when the ancient cellars of the historic center open their doors for tastings and convivial meetings among the medieval alleys. In the following weeks, the program continues with dance performances, sporting events, book presentations, concerts, the Fumone Beer Fest, the traditional Dinner under the Stars, theater moments, initiatives dedicated to children, and the painting exhibition by artist Mauro Panunti.
Those who arrive for the first time discover that the real attraction is not just the beer: it is the context. The walls, the stone alleys, the staircases, and the viewpoints of the village transform a simple village festival into an evening that stays in your memory. And since Fumone is just a few minutes from Alatri, Anagni, and Ferentino, the festival is perfect for ending a day of visiting historic Ciociaria, among megalithic acropolises and Romanesque cathedrals.
Like most festivals in the small towns of Lazio, the Fumone Beer Fest relies on the voluntary work of Pro Loco members and the enthusiasm of the local community. This is what determines its character: popular prices, direct hospitality, and an organization that prioritizes participation over spectacle. A simple and effective way to keep the village alive even in the months when the tourist season reaches its peak.
The Fumone Beer Fest is confirmed as part of "Estate a Fumone 2026", the summer calendar of the Municipality of Fumone (province of Frosinone, Lazio) created with the Pro Loco Fumone degli Ernici APS, chaired by Michele Cecchetti. The festival opened on Saturday, July 4th, 2026 at 8:30 PM with the "Cantine Riaperte", the evening when the ancient cellars of the historic center reopen for tastings and convivial meetings.
The Fumone summer program includes dance performances, sporting events, book presentations, concerts, the Fumone Beer Fest, the traditional Dinner under the Stars, theater moments, initiatives for children, and the painting exhibition by artist Mauro Panunti.
At the time of publication of this page, the exact date and detailed program of the Beer Fest have not yet been released. The evening will take place, as per tradition, between July and August in the historic center of the village, with beer taps, food stalls managed by volunteers, and live music. We recommend following the social pages of the Pro Loco Fumone degli Ernici and the Municipality of Fumone for the official announcement.
