A showcase of Vinschgau wines within the halls of Castelbello Castle
The Vinschgauer Weinpräsentation at Castelbello Castle is the annual showcase of wines from the Vinschgau Valley, hosted in the historic halls of Castelbello Castle (Schloss Kastelbell) in the municipality of Castelbello-Ciardes, in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol. The castle's spacious rooms allow winemakers to spread out, creating a relaxed and uncrowded atmosphere: it is an event designed for those who wish to taste at their own pace and engage in conversation with the producers.
The Vinschgau Valley is a small but precious wine-growing region in South Tyrol: vineyards climb the slopes to high altitudes, in some cases over 1,000 meters, resulting in wines of striking minerality and freshness. At the presentation, visitors can taste the entire range of local production:
Alongside the local winemakers, each edition hosts several prestigious guest wineries from other Italian regions, offering a stimulating comparison between mountain wines and the excellence of the national oenological landscape.
The event was founded by sommelier Sonya Egger-Trafoier and her family, in collaboration with the Castelbello-Ciardes Tourist Association. Attendance is intentionally limited to preserve the intimate and refined character of the event, which is highly appreciated by enthusiasts, sommeliers, and connoisseurs.
The day combines wine with conviviality: a catering service featuring local gastronomic specialties accompanies the tastings, while live music provides the soundtrack between the castle's halls. It is the perfect way to discover the food and wine soul of the Vinschgau Valley in a stunning historical setting.
The event takes place on a Sunday in early July, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is reserved for adults (18+) and includes tastings; a tasting glass is available with a deposit. Food is not included in the ticket price. Booking online or by phone is recommended.
The 2026 edition, the fourth, took place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the halls of Castelbello Castle. Winemakers from the Vinschgau Valley offered their entire range of local production for tasting — white, red, rosé, sparkling, and dessert wines.
Among the guest wineries for the 2026 edition were the Piedmontese Marchesi di Barolo and Cascina Bruciata, and the Sicilian Baglio di Pianetto. The catering service was provided by Stadlgut of Tarce in collaboration with the Kuppelrain restaurant, while live music was performed by Christian Theiner.
Admission, reserved for adults, was €30.00 including tastings, with a €10.00 deposit for the glass.
