Tastings, traditional dishes, and agrifolk music in the village of Rocca Grimalda
Vino e Ribotte is the food and wine event that fills the historic center of Rocca Grimalda with life—a small town in the Ovadese area of the province of Alessandria, in Piedmont. Born from the idea of three young locals eager to promote their town and its producers, the festival has quickly become a highly anticipated spring event in the Monferrato region, drawing visitors from across the area.
The heart of the day is the wine tasting: purchase a glass and set off to discover labels from local wineries, distributed along the streets and the most picturesque corners of the village, all the way up to the panoramic Belvedere. Numerous wineries participate in Rocca Grimalda, showcasing the wines of the Monferrato Ovadese, from Dolcetto di Ovada to other local productions.
Alongside the wine, the absolute star is the local gastronomy, prepared on-site by town associations and neighboring groups. The signature dish is peirbuiera, the typical local specialty prepared by the Polisportiva according to the original recipe. Other local delicacies are also available:
Throughout the day, the village also hosts an artisan and food market, featuring stalls from local producers and craftspeople. The festivities continue into the evening, concluding with live agrifolk music, which transforms the historic center into a vibrant village party defined by conviviality.
Organized by the Polisportiva in collaboration with the Municipality of Rocca Grimalda, Vino e Ribotte is much more than just a food festival: it is a way to share the identity of a Monferrato village, built on good food, quality wines, and community spirit. It is an ideal stop for those looking to discover the authenticity of the Ovadese region through tastings, traditions, and hilly landscapes.
The 2026 edition of Vino e Ribotte was held on Saturday, May 30, in Rocca Grimalda, bringing the historic center to life from 12:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Seven local wineries were the stars of the tastings: Casa Nuova, Clerici, Fratelli Badino, Fratelli Facchino, La Maddalena, La Piria, and Rocca Rondinaria.
Alongside the wines, local associations offered traditional dishes: peirbuiera by the Polisportiva, farinata by Saoms, fried ravioli and chips by the CRB of San Giacomo, sweet crepes by Lachera, horse meat stew by the Pro Loco of Madonna delle Rocche, gnocchi by the Pro Loco of Mornese, and polenta by the Pro Loco of Lerma.
The day concluded with agrifolk music by Clan Banlieue starting at 10:30 PM, complemented by the artisan and food market.
Rocca Grimalda is located in the Ovadese area, in the province of Alessandria. By car, it can be reached via the A26 motorway (Ovada exit), then following signs for the town. The nearest train station is in Ovada, just a few kilometers away.
The festival takes place over a single day, from 12:00 PM until late evening, with wine glasses available for purchase until late afternoon and live music starting at 10:30 PM.
The event is held in the historic center: it is best to park in the designated areas outside the village and proceed on foot. We recommend purchasing the tasting glass and wearing comfortable shoes to navigate the cobblestone streets up to the Belvedere.
