About Vino e Ribotte

Vino e Ribotte is the food and wine festival that brings the historic center of Rocca Grimalda to life every spring, in the heart of the Ovadese area in the province of Alessandria. For one full day, the village transforms into a showcase for local wines and traditional products: wine tastings with a souvenir glass purchased on-site, local specialties prepared by community associations, an artisan and food market, and live agrifolk music in the evening. A convivial event that celebrates the wineries and flavors of the Monferrato Ovadese region.

A celebration of flavors in the village of Rocca Grimalda

Vino e Ribotte is the food and wine event that fills the historic center of Rocca Grimalda with life—a small town in the Ovadese area of the province of Alessandria, in Piedmont. Born from the idea of three young locals eager to promote their town and its producers, the festival has quickly become a highly anticipated spring event in the Monferrato region, drawing visitors from across the area.

Local wines and wineries

The heart of the day is the wine tasting: purchase a glass and set off to discover labels from local wineries, distributed along the streets and the most picturesque corners of the village, all the way up to the panoramic Belvedere. Numerous wineries participate in Rocca Grimalda, showcasing the wines of the Monferrato Ovadese, from Dolcetto di Ovada to other local productions.

Traditional Rocca Grimalda cuisine

Alongside the wine, the absolute star is the local gastronomy, prepared on-site by town associations and neighboring groups. The signature dish is peirbuiera, the typical local specialty prepared by the Polisportiva according to the original recipe. Other local delicacies are also available:

  • farinata (chickpea flatbread);
  • fried ravioli and chips;
  • horse meat stew (stracotto di cavallo);
  • gnocchi and polenta with mushrooms or gorgonzola;
  • sweet crepes for a delicious finish.

Market, music, and atmosphere

Throughout the day, the village also hosts an artisan and food market, featuring stalls from local producers and craftspeople. The festivities continue into the evening, concluding with live agrifolk music, which transforms the historic center into a vibrant village party defined by conviviality.

An event that tells the story of the Ovadese

Organized by the Polisportiva in collaboration with the Municipality of Rocca Grimalda, Vino e Ribotte is much more than just a food festival: it is a way to share the identity of a Monferrato village, built on good food, quality wines, and community spirit. It is an ideal stop for those looking to discover the authenticity of the Ovadese region through tastings, traditions, and hilly landscapes.
