A day of tastings within the walls of a historic manor in the heart of the Alto Monferrato ovadese
Vini al Castello is the food and wine event that the Castello di Trisobbio dedicates to the winemaking excellence of its territory. For an entire day, from morning until evening, the halls and courtyards of the manor transform into a grand hall of taste, where visitors can sample local wines guided by professional sommeliers. At the heart of the event is the Ovada DOCG, the signature wine of these hills, joined by a rich selection of labels from producers across the Ovadese area.
The venue itself is one of the main attractions: the Castello di Trisobbio dates back to the early 13th century and was a fiefdom of the Marquises of Bosco, later the Malaspina, and finally the Spinola. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was restored under the direction of architect Alfredo D'Andrade, who brought its medieval appearance back to light. Since 1989, the castle and its park have belonged to the Municipality of Trisobbio, a small village in the province of Alessandria nestled in the hills of the Alto Monferrato ovadese, in Piedmont.
The Vini al Castello formula weaves together three ingredients: wine, music, and dining. While sommeliers guide guests through their glasses, the atmosphere is warmed by live music and DJ sets that animate the day. The Ristorante del Castello, led by chef Juri Risso, remains open for lunch and dinner with a menu deeply inspired by the solid Piedmontese culinary tradition, the ideal pairing for the great reds of the territory.
The event stems from the collaboration between the Castello di Trisobbio and a network of organizations committed to promoting local food and wine: the Enoteca Regionale di Ovada e del Monferrato, the Consorzio di Tutela e Promozione dell'Ovada DOCG, the Municipality of Trisobbio, and the local tourism agency ALEXALA. It is an opportunity to discover not only the wines but the entire heritage of traditions, landscapes, and flavors that makes the Ovadese one of the most authentic lands in Piedmont.
The 2026 edition of Vini al Castello took place on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM, within the halls and courtyards of the Castello di Trisobbio. The absolute star was the Ovada DOCG, accompanied by a rich selection of labels from local producers. Visitors were able to sample regional wines guided by professional sommeliers, along a path marked by live music and DJ sets. The Ristorante del Castello, led by chef Juri Risso, remained open for lunch and dinner with a menu inspired by the Piedmontese culinary tradition. The event was born from the collaboration between the Castello di Trisobbio, the Enoteca Regionale di Ovada e del Monferrato, the Consorzio Ovada DOCG, the Municipality of Trisobbio, and ALEXALA.
Trisobbio is located in the Alto Monferrato ovadese, in the province of Alessandria. By car, it can be reached from Ovada (about 10 km) along the hilly roads; the nearest motorway exit is Ovada on the A26 Genoa-Gravellona Toce. The castle dominates the center of the village.
The event takes place from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Admission to the tastings costs 10 euros.
