The "urig & echt" village festival in St. Peter, Val di Funes
The Villnösser Dorffest urig & echt is the village festival of St. Peter, in the Municipality of Funes/Villnöß, in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). At the foot of the Odle mountains, in one of the most spectacular valleys in South Tyrol, the village transforms for three days into a lively meeting point for locals and guests alike. The motto "urig & echt" (authentic and genuine) perfectly captures the spirit of the event: living tradition, a strong sense of community, and a program designed for all generations.
The organization is handled by the Musikkapelle Villnöß, the local brass band, which uses the festival to fund its activities and keep a long-standing tradition alive. The event takes place in the school courtyard of St. Peter, which serves as the stage for music, gastronomy, and conviviality.
The program alternates between traditional live music and modern DJ sets, with evenings that continue late into the night. There is no shortage of regional culinary specialties, from typical South Tyrolean dishes to local beers, all served in a festive and friendly atmosphere.
The most anticipated moment is the grand parade on Sunday afternoon, themed "Typisch Villnöß" (Typical Villnöß): a colorful procession that winds through the village, involving associations, groups, and families. The final day concludes with the drawing of the Dorffest lottery, a highlight filled with smiles and anticipation.
Located in the picturesque Val di Funes, world-famous for the panorama of the Odle Group and the small church of San Giovanni in Ranui, the festival is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic corner of South Tyrol. Today, the Villnösser Dorffest is one of the most characteristic popular events in the valley, successfully combining contemporary fun with South Tyrolean cultural roots.
The 2026 edition of the St. Peter village festival (Municipality of Funes/Villnöß, Bolzano province) takes place from Friday, July 10 to Sunday, July 12, 2026. A special edition, as it coincides with the 225th anniversary of the Musikkapelle Villnöß, celebrated with the motto "Tradition für insre Zukunft" (Tradition for our future).
As per tradition, the program combines live music, DJ sets, South Tyrolean culinary specialties, family activities, and the "Typisch Villnöß" themed parade. The event is held in the school courtyard of St. Peter, in the heart of Val di Funes.
Throughout the festival, activities for children and families are planned: giant trampoline, bouncy castle, face painting, woodworking workshop, charity raffle, magic show, and tandem flights (some activities only on Sunday).
The Villnösser Dorffest is held in the school courtyard of St. Peter, the main hamlet of the Municipality of Funes/Villnöß (BZ), in Val di Funes.
By car: take the A22 Brenner motorway exit at Chiusa/Klausen, then follow the road to Val di Funes until you reach St. Peter. By train: Chiusa or Bressanone station on the Brenner line, with connecting bus service to the valley.
Admission to the festival is free; food, drinks, and lottery tickets are available for purchase. For the detailed program and updates, we recommend checking the official website villnoesser-dorffest.it or the event's social media channels.
