The Vertical del Seru in Condove
The Vertical del Seru - Piero Antoniono Memorial is one of the most cherished mountain running races in the Susa Valley. It takes place in Condove, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, challenging athletes on a short but extremely demanding course that climbs steeply from the valley floor toward the Seru hamlet.
A short and vertical course
The race is a true vertical: just 2.2 kilometers long with 410 meters of positive elevation gain. The start is set in the center of Condove, at an altitude of about 380 meters, while the finish line is at the Truc del Seru, at 791 meters. The trail follows path number 569 toward Sigliodo, a continuous climb that rewards power and endurance on steep terrain more than raw speed.
A memorial and a circuit
The event is dedicated to the memory of Piero Antoniono and is organized by the Freemount ASD association, affiliated with UISP and FIE. The Vertical del Seru is part of the Vertical Valsusa and Val Cenischia Circuit, which brings together the main uphill races in the area and awards an overall ranking to the most consistent athletes throughout the season.
The spirit of the race
Although it is a competitive event followed by top-tier Piedmontese clubs, the Vertical del Seru retains the convivial spirit of a local village race: the support of the Municipality of Condove, the cheering crowds along the route, and an awards ceremony that turns into a celebration for the entire community. It is a perfect event for those who love high-altitude running and want to discover an authentic corner of the lower Susa Valley.

La 6ª edizione del Vertical del Seru si è svolta mercoledì 27 maggio 2026 a Condove, in condizioni di gran caldo. La gara ha rappresentato la quinta prova del Circuito Vertical Valsusa e Val Cenischia 2026 e ha confermato il suo seguito con 83 iscritti e 78 partenti sulla linea di partenza.

How to get there
Condove is located in the lower Susa Valley, accessible via the A32 Turin-Bardonecchia motorway (Avigliana or Borgone exit) and the Turin-Modane railway line (Condove-Chiusa San Michele station).
The race
Start from the center of Condove (approx. 380 m), finish at the Truc del Seru (791 m). A 2.2 km course with 410 m of elevation gain along trail 569 toward Sigliodo. The race is open to members of sports promotion organizations.
