Three days of exhibitions, shows, markets, and tradition in the heart of Vecchiano
The Vecchiano Spring Fair is one of the most cherished events in the calendar of the Municipality of Vecchiano, in the Province of Pisa, at the gateway to the Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli Regional Park. Every year, during the long Easter weekend, the historic center dresses up for the occasion, becoming a large pedestrian route that connects squares, streets, and courtyards into one big meeting area. It is neither a gastronomic festival nor an international tourist attraction: it is a community festival, built by the many local associations, schools, the Pro Loco, and the volunteer and sports groups that enliven the area.
The heart of the Fair is the Piazza P.P. Pasolini performance zone, where shows, award ceremonies, and musical moments are concentrated, but the event spreads throughout the entire village. Numerous exhibitions are set up in the town's spaces: the collective exhibition of local artists in the Council Chamber, art displays at the Giusti Gallery, artistic artifacts in the rectory of the S. Alessandro Parish, and initiatives by the Pro Loco. A special space is dedicated to the "50 Years in Masks" photography exhibition, curated by the Vecchianese Carnival Committee to celebrate the half-century of the historic Vecchiano Carnival, complete with a scenic float set up in front of the Theater.
A distinctive feature of the Fair is the strong participation of the "Daniela Settesoldi" Comprehensive Institute: the works of pupils from the kindergartens, primary, and secondary schools of the hamlets of Vecchiano, Nodica, Avane, Filettole, and Migliarino are exhibited in the Giusti Gallery. Guided tours of the Civic Tower and the Church of S. Alessandro, organized by the Vecchianese Archaeological Group, also allow visitors to discover the village's historical heritage. The entire event is free to enter.
The 2026 edition of the Vecchiano Spring Fair transformed the village into a large event trail from April 4 to 6. The exhibitions set up in the town's spaces — from the collective of local artists in the Council Chamber to the "50 Years in Masks" photo exhibition by the Vecchianese Carnival Committee — accompanied a rich program of shows in Piazza P.P. Pasolini. Numerous local associations and schools were involved, with the "Daniela Settesoldi" Comprehensive Institute featuring prominently in the exhibitions. Between sports, dance, music, food trucks, and the Easter Monday picnic, the free event confirmed its role as a great community festival.
Piazza Garibaldi (rides and funfair); Piazza P.P. Pasolini (shows and association space); Teatro Olimpia ("50 Years in Masks" exhibition); Council Chamber (collective exhibition); food truck area on the Via Indipendenza side; commercial stalls on Via Bandecca, Via Barsuglia, and Via S. Alessandro.
Vecchiano is located in the province of Pisa, a few kilometers from the Pisa Nord exit of the A12 motorway. By train, the Vecchiano station is on the Pisa-Viareggio line. The nearest airport is the Galileo Galilei Airport in Pisa.
Parking areas are available in Piazza Pertini (with spaces reserved for disabled visitors), Piazza Galletti, and along the banks of the Serchio river.
Access to all Fair initiatives is free.
