About Porchetta Festival

In the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia, Vallerano dedicates an entire weekend in June to its most famous specialty: porchetta. Held at the Giardino Comunale, the Porchetta Festival serves crispy, fragrant Vallerano-style porchetta, traditional pecorino-topped fricciolose, and local dishes, accompanied by live music, a market, children's games, and walks through the chestnut groves of the Cimini Mountains. Three days of flavor and conviviality with free admission, organized by the San Vittore Martire festival committee.

Vallerano Porchetta, the pride of Tuscia

In Vallerano, a small village in the province of Viterbo, porchetta is not just a dish: it is an institution. The Vallerano-style porchetta, crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside, is known and appreciated throughout Central Italy, the result of artisanal techniques passed down through generations. The Porchetta Festival is the moment when the village celebrates this excellence, bringing it to the table alongside other flavors of the Tuscia cuisine.

Three days of festivities at the Giardino Comunale

On the last weekend of June, the Giardino Comunale on Via Antonio Gramsci transforms into a large festival space: from Friday to Sunday, food stalls light up in the evening, tables fill up, and the atmosphere becomes that of the most authentic village festivals, filled with the scent of freshly sliced porchetta, music, and conversation until late.

On the menu: porchetta, fricciolose, and local flavors

The festival menu revolves around the queen of the event, without forgetting other local specialties:

  • Vallerano-style porchetta, served in a sandwich or on a plate, also available with tomato;
  • Fricciolose, thin crepes typical of Vallerano seasoned with pecorino cheese;
  • Grilled sausages, fried foods, and traditional local dishes;
  • Local dry pastries;
  • Local wine and draft beer.

Music, markets, and families

Every evening, the festival stage hosts live music, while the garden area features a market and a kids' zone with inflatable games. During the weekend, guided tours of Vallerano's historic center and walks through the surrounding chestnut groves are also offered, allowing visitors to discover the village beyond the table. For those arriving from afar, a fully equipped camper area is available.

Vallerano, a village in the Cimini Mountains

The Municipality of Vallerano rises on the slopes of the Cimini Mountains, in the Tuscia region, the green heart of northern Lazio. The village, with its medieval historic center, is also famous for the Vallerano Chestnut PDO and its ancient chestnut groves: a territory where agricultural and gastronomic traditions go hand in hand, and of which the festival is a genuine showcase.

An event signed by San Vittore

The event is organized by the San Vittore Martire Religious Association through its festival committee, the same group of volunteers that brings the great Feast of San Vittore to life every summer. Reaching its twelfth edition in 2025, the Porchetta Festival is now one of the most anticipated food and wine events in the Viterbo Tuscia, attracting visitors from across the province and from Rome.
