Valle del Cervo Alpini Mountain Race

A race in the heart of the Valle del Cervo

The Valle del Cervo Alpini Mountain Race is the summer running event organized annually by the Valle del Cervo Alpini Group in Campiglia Cervo, a small mountain municipality in the Province of Biella, Piedmont. It is a simple, authentic event deeply rooted in the valley's community, attracting runners, mountain enthusiasts, and supporters of the Alpini spirit.

The Route

The race follows an approximately 8-kilometer course with a total elevation gain of about 350 meters, traversing mule tracks, trails, and roads between the hamlets of the Valle del Cervo. The meeting point, including registration, bib distribution, and race pack collection, is at the Alpini Group headquarters in the main square of Campiglia Cervo. From there, the route leads participants into the rugged and evocative landscape of the Bürsch, the mountain basin that cradles the valley's villages.

A Non-Competitive Event

This is a non-competitive race, valid for the A.N.A. Biella Section Championship. The goal is not just the clock, but participation, community, and the promotion of mountain trails. The friendly format makes the event suitable for both trained athletes and casual enthusiasts looking to spend a day outdoors in the nature of the Biella region.

The Trittico dla Bürsch

The Alpini Mountain Race is the third and final stage of the Trittico dla Bürsch, a circuit of three running races that enliven the Valle del Cervo throughout the year: the #distacalacrava RUN in spring, the Rampia Campel vertical race in June, and finally, the summer Alpini race. The Trittico awards points based on individual placements and rewards those who complete all three stages, aiming to keep the valley's trails alive and promote the territory.

Sport, Tradition, and Alpini Identity

The event is part of the festivities organized by the Campiglia Cervo Alpini Group, which also include a flag-raising ceremony, a parade accompanied by a marching band, a memorial Mass for members and fallen soldiers, and a convivial lunch. The race thus becomes much more than a competition: it is a community moment that weaves together Alpini tradition, sport, and a deep bond with the mountains, showcasing the identity of Campiglia Cervo and the entire Valle del Cervo in the heart of the Biella Prealps.
