A charity walk through the orchards of Valle Bronda in support of the local school
The Valle Bronda Walking School Day is a non-competitive running and walking event held in Pagno, a small town in the Province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. Born as a solidarity initiative, the walk combines a passion for nature and physical activity with the concrete goal of supporting the Valle Bronda school: all registration proceeds are donated to local school activities.
The event offers three non-competitive routes of 5, 7, and 10 kilometers, designed to suit walkers of all levels and families with children. The trails wind through the valley's most picturesque scenery: cultivated hills, the famous orchards of Pagno, scenic roads towards Castellar and Brondello, and up to the chapel of San Ponzio, before returning to the main square. It is a stroll that allows you to discover an authentic corner of the Cottian Alps at the foot of Monviso at a leisurely pace.
The Walking School Day is a day designed for enjoying the outdoors together. The start is set in Piazza Mercato in Pagno, with a morning gathering and a final refreshment offered by the community. Among the latest additions is an initiative dedicated to four-legged friends: those participating with their dog receive a dedicated bib and kit. For those wishing to stay for lunch, covered picnic areas are available, and special menus are offered by local restaurants.
Behind the Walking School Day is the hard work of numerous local associations and volunteers: the Pro Loco of Pagno, the AIB and Ala Veja groups, and the Valle Bronda Civil Protection, with the support of the Municipality and local businesses in Pagno, Brondello, and Castellar. A collective effort that, edition after edition, strengthens the community spirit and turns a simple walk into a concrete gesture of solidarity towards the valley's new generations.
The sixth edition of the Walking School Day was held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Pagno. The meeting point was set in Piazza Mercato at 9:30 AM, with the start at 10:15 AM and refreshments around 12:15 PM. The 5-euro fee included a race pack for the first 250 registrants. A new feature this year was an initiative dedicated to dogs, with free bibs and kits for four-legged friends.
The event saw nearly 300 participants, with a large turnout of families. All proceeds were donated to the Valle Bronda school to support activities for the younger generation. Numerous companies supported the initiative, including Monge, Inalpi, Valverbe, and Acqua Eva.
