Cuneo's endurance challenge: the last one standing wins
The 6xSempre is one of the most original running events in Piedmont. It takes place in Cuneo, the capital of the Cuneo province, inside the Gesso and Stura River Park, with its base at the NUoVO space on Via Porta Mondovì. This is not a traditional race with a fixed finish line; it is a last man standing race (an Italian take on the "backyard ultra" format) where the stakes are pure endurance. The winner is simply the person who manages to run longer than everyone else.
All athletes start together and must complete a loop of approximately 6 km with 30 meters of elevation gain within a set time limit. The first lap must be finished in 60 minutes, the second in 59, the third in 58, and so on, with each subsequent lap allowing one minute less than the previous one. Anyone who fails to finish within the time limit is eliminated. The challenge becomes increasingly grueling as the hours pass, until only one finisher remains: the winner of the 6xSempre.
The event is open to all athletes with a valid competitive medical certificate, with no age or gender restrictions, up to a maximum of 100 participants. It is organized by A.S.D. Il Podio Cuneo, conceived by Fabrizio Giai and Alberto Rovera, and supported by Fidal, Uisp, Iuta, and the Cuneese Tourism Board (ATL). A portion of the registration fee is donated to the La Cura nello Sguardo association, which promotes and provides assistance for palliative care at the Busca Hospice.
Surrounding the competition, the Cuneo River Park comes alive with a festive side program. Recent editions have featured padel and beach volleyball tournaments, yoga and fitwalking sessions, live music, and a beer festival, turning the 6xSempre into a celebration of sport and community for the entire city.
The fourth edition of the 6xSempre is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Cuneo, based at the NUoVO in the Gesso and Stura River Park. The endurance race features the now-established 6 km loop with 30 meters of elevation gain: the first lap must be completed in 60 minutes, the second in 59, and so on until everyone is eliminated except one.
Registration opened on April 1, 2026, and closes on September 17, 2026, with a cap of 100 athletes. For this edition as well, a portion of the entry fee supports the La Cura nello Sguardo association, dedicated to palliative care.
The race is open to all athletes with a valid competitive medical certificate, with no age or gender limits, up to a maximum of 100 participants.
The highlight is the final stage of the race, when only a few athletes remain on the track and every lap becomes a test of willpower: the winner is the last person who manages to finish within the increasingly tight time limit.
The 6xSempre base is the NUoVO, located within the Gesso and Stura River Park in Cuneo, on Via Porta Mondovì. Cuneo is accessible by train (Cuneo station) and by car via the A33 Asti–Cuneo motorway or local provincial roads.
Registration costs 30 euros, with 10 euros donated to the La Cura nello Sguardo charity. The fee includes a personalized race bib, medical assistance and ambulance coverage along the route, and a race pack with an official t-shirt. Places are limited to 100 athletes, and a competitive medical certificate is mandatory.
As this is an endurance race, we recommend arriving well in advance to collect your bib and prepare for a challenge that can last several hours.
