A journey through the traditions, flavors, and customs of Italy's regions in the heart of the Valdambra
In the heart of the Valdambra, nestled in the hills of the Valdarno area of Arezzo, the village of Bucine (Province of Arezzo, Tuscany) hosts one of the most cherished local events every spring: the Valdambra Festival of the Regions. The event originated as an evolution of the historic "Bucine a Town in Bloom" festival, organized since 2007 by the association of the same name and which has seen numerous successful editions over the years. The underlying idea is simple and fascinating: to bring the traditions, flavors, and costumes of Italy's various regions into a single village, alongside international delegations that have enlivened the town's streets over the years.
During the event, the historic center of Bucine transforms into a living map of the country. Along the streets and in the main squares - from Piazza del Campo Vecchio to Piazza del Popolo and Piazza del Municipio - regional stalls are set up, each showcasing its own typical products, recipes, and costumes. In past editions, the festival has also welcomed international delegations from Hungary, the Netherlands, Albania, India, Colombia, and Romania, making the event an authentic cultural bridge between diverse communities.
For 2026, the Municipality of Bucine, the Pro Loco, and the Valdambra associations signed a "Charter of Intent for the Integrated Valorization of Culture, Tourism, and Environmental Sustainability." As highlighted by the Councilor for Tourism, Cristina Mugnai, the 2026 Festival stems from a shared vision capable of combining tradition, innovation, and sustainability. The event thus takes on a widespread and itinerant character, involving not only the municipal capital but also the hamlets of the territory, such as Ambra and Badia Agnano.
The Valdambra Festival of the Regions is the perfect opportunity to discover, in just one weekend, the gastronomic and cultural richness of Italy, immersed in the authentic atmosphere of a Tuscan village. A popular and family-friendly event, where the conviviality of local festivals meets curiosity for the traditions of the entire Peninsula.
For the 2026 edition, the Valdambra Festival of the Regions presented itself with a renewed look, the result of the Charter of Intent signed by the Municipality of Bucine, the Pro Loco, and the Valdambra associations to enhance culture, tourism, and environmental sustainability in an integrated way.
During the two days of May 16th and 17th, the historic center of Bucine hosted food and wine stalls from Italian regions, a market of producers and artisans, folk groups with costume parades, and numerous tastings of typical products. Alongside the convivial appointments, the festival offered thematic talks and moments of exchange between territories, combining local identity, discovery, and entertainment for all ages.
The 2026 program was spread over two days in the historic center of Bucine, between Piazza del Campo Vecchio, Piazza del Popolo, and the town streets:
Detailed schedules and the complete list of participating groups and regions were communicated by the organizers in the days leading up to the event.
Bucine is located in the Valdarno area of Arezzo, in a central position between Arezzo and the Chianti region. By car: take the Valdarno exit on the A1 motorway, then follow signs for Valdambra. By train: the Bucine station is on the Florence-Arezzo-Rome railway line, just a short walk from the historic center.
Access to the event area and folk performances is generally free; tastings and products at the food and wine stalls are paid according to the individual exhibitors' price lists.
We recommend arriving in the village early and wearing comfortable shoes to move between the squares and streets of the historic center. For information: [email protected].
