About Utopia del Buongusto

The Utopia del Buongusto Festival brings its most beloved summer evenings to Santa Luce, in the heart of the Pisan countryside, blending theatre with fine gastronomy. Directed by Andrea Kaemmerle and organized by Guascone Teatro, the festival features original open-air performances paired with dinners showcasing local products. In the summer of 2026, the municipality of Santa Luce hosts two events: July 24th at the Pista dei Pini in Pomaia and July 31st in Piazza del Municipio.

A festival blending theatre and fine dining

The Utopia del Buongusto Festival is one of Tuscany's longest-running and most original summer events. Now in its 29th edition in 2026 (subtitled "The First International Experiment in Hedonistic Living"), the festival is conceived and directed by Andrea Kaemmerle and produced by the Guascone Teatro International Theatre Association, based in Pontedera. The formula is simple and irresistible: an original open-air theatrical performance, preceded or accompanied by a dinner featuring local delicacies, held in villages, squares, farms, parks, and secret gardens.

The Santa Luce and Pomaia stops

In the summer of 2026, the Municipality of Santa Luce, a small hillside village in the province of Pisa overlooking the Pisan Hills and near the Lake Santa Luce Oasis, hosts two evenings of the festival. The first takes place on Friday, July 24th at the Pista dei Pini in Pomaia with the show "Si fa festa - allegra umanitร  inobbediente" by Guascone Teatro. The second is scheduled for Friday, July 31st in Piazza del Municipio in Santa Luce with "Happy Days," written and performed by Stefano Santomauro.

A theatrical network across Tuscany

Utopia del Buongusto is not just a single-town event, but a true travelling network: from late June to late October, the festival spans dozens of evenings across five Tuscan provinces - Pisa, Lucca, Livorno, Prato, and Florence. It is considered the largest regional open-air theatre network, showcasing original productions and new companies. Each stop has its own identity, but all share a convivial spirit that places the spoken word and the pleasures of the table at the centre.

Atmosphere and audience

The evenings of Utopia del Buongusto offer an intimate, family-like atmosphere: limited seating, direct contact with the actors, authentic food, and a starry sky. It is a festival designed for those who love quality theatre without sacrificing good food, set in a natural landscape that finds its added value in the hills and the tranquillity of the village of Santa Luce.
