The summer literary festival in Terrasini, featuring author meet-and-greets by the sea at Torre Alba
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Un Mare di Libri is the literary festival that brings Terrasini, a seaside village overlooking the Gulf of Castellammare in the province of Palermo, to life every summer. Since its inception in 2016, it has become the town's most enduring cultural event and a highly anticipated highlight of the Sicilian summer calendar for book lovers and author encounters.
The evenings take place at Torre Alba, a stunning location on the Peppino Impastato seafront, where the audience enjoys presentations with the sea as a backdrop and the evening breeze. Over the years, some events have also been held at the Palazzo d'Aumale, the town's museum. Admission to the meetings is always free, fostering an informal atmosphere that brings readers closer to the writers.
Directed by writer and organizer Franco Cascio, the festival is promoted by the Municipality of Terrasini and has hosted prominent authors from the Italian literary scene, published by major houses such as Mondadori, Einaudi, Feltrinelli, Rizzoli, and Sellerio. The program alternates between big names and emerging voices, with a special focus on contemporary fiction, social issues, memory, and the stories of the Sicilian territory.
More than just a series of presentations, Un Mare di Libri is an opportunity for the Terrasini community and visitors to Sicily to experience culture as a moment of exchange and sharing. The natural setting of the village, the scent of the sea, and typical Sicilian hospitality make this festival an experience that combines tourism, reading, and social connection.
For those spending the summer on the Palermo coast, Un Mare di Libri is a fantastic opportunity to discover new reads and hear writers speak in person, in a setting where literature dialogues with the landscape. The festival confirms Terrasini's vocation as a cultural destination, in addition to being one of the most beloved seaside spots in the province of Palermo.
The eleventh edition of Un Mare di Libri has been announced for the summer of 2026, confirming the continuity of a festival now deeply rooted in the cultural summer of Terrasini. At the end of the 2025 edition, director Franco Cascio greeted the public, looking forward to the eleventh edition.
