A widespread Christmas festival across six municipalities in the Agro Aversano area, led by San Cipriano d'Aversa

Un Magico Natale is a festival that, throughout December, simultaneously lights up the squares of six municipalities in the province of Caserta, Campania. The project is led by the Municipality of San Cipriano d'Aversa and brings together Casaluce, Casapesenna, Frignano, San Marcellino, and Villa di Briano: not six separate calendars, but a single shared program with over twenty events distributed across churches, parish theaters, historic palaces, and town squares.
The idea behind the event is simple yet rare: networking neighboring administrations so that the Christmas season becomes an opportunity for tourism promotion across the entire Agro Aversano. The festival is funded by the Campania Region as part of initiatives dedicated to rediscovering local traditions and promoting typical products linked to Mediterranean food and wine culture, with the stated goal of building cultural, naturalistic, and gastronomic tourist routes. The artistic direction is entrusted to Angelo Cirillo.
The festival's soundtrack is incredibly varied. Alongside Christmas and Boxing Day concerts hosted in churches, there is room for gospel choirs, classical music performed by prestigious choral groups such as the choir of the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, tammurriata, and the great tradition of Neapolitan song, brought to the stage by performers like Mario Maglione. There is no shortage of zampognari (bagpipers), an essential presence in the Campanian Christmas, and concerts by local music schools and academies, which give voice to local talent.
The program alternates between moments of reflection and evenings of pure fun: comedy shows — featuring well-known Neapolitan comedian Mino Abbacuccio — musical shows with DJs, performances by traveling bands roaming the town streets, and exhibitions set up in municipal spaces.
A significant part of the program is dedicated to families and children, with events almost always scheduled in the morning:
Almost every evening concludes with tastings of typical products: festive sweets, dairy specialties, and local gastronomy tell the story of an agricultural territory that finds one of its strongest identity traits in its cuisine. It is the method chosen by the organizers to link entertainment with the promotion of small-scale production in the Agro Aversano.
The festival is also an opportunity to discover heritage rarely visited by mass tourism. In Casaluce, the Santuario della Madonna di Casaluce houses an 18th-century Neapolitan organ and frescoes of the Giotto school; in Villa di Briano, the theater of the Santuario della Madonna di Briano hosts the most important events; in San Cipriano d'Aversa, the 18th-century Palazzo Bevilacqua and Piazza Marconi are the heart of the evenings, along with the churches of the Annunziata and Santa Croce.
Un Magico Natale is held in December, generally from the days around the Feast of the Immaculate Conception until the end of the year. The detailed program, including dates, locations, and artists, is presented by the network's municipalities in the first few days of December: it is therefore advisable to follow the official channels of the Municipality of San Cipriano d'Aversa and the other towns involved to learn the schedule in advance.
At the moment, there are no official communications regarding the dates and program for Un Magico Natale 2026. The Christmas festival of the Agro Aversano, led by the Municipality of San Cipriano d'Aversa, is usually presented in the very first days of December, when the network's municipalities release the full calendar with locations, times, and artists.
Those wishing to plan a visit can monitor the official channels of the Municipality of San Cipriano d'Aversa and the other towns involved — Casaluce, Casapesenna, Frignano, San Marcellino, and Villa di Briano — as well as the local press of the province of Caserta. This page will be updated as soon as the 2026 dates and program are made public.
San Cipriano d'Aversa is located in the Agro Aversano, in the southern part of the province of Caserta, a few kilometers from Aversa and the border with the metropolitan area of Naples. The reference railway station is Aversa, connected to Naples and the line to Rome; from there, you can continue by bus or taxi. By car, the town is served by the roads of the Agro Aversano and the axes connecting Naples and Caserta. The nearest airport is Naples-Capodichino.
The events are distributed among the six municipalities of the network: San Cipriano d'Aversa (Piazza Marconi, Palazzo Bevilacqua, churches of the Annunziata and Santa Croce), Casaluce (Piazza Statuto and Santuario della Madonna di Casaluce), Casapesenna (Piazza Petrillo), Frignano (Piazza della Repubblica), San Marcellino, and Villa di Briano (Piazza Cavour and the sanctuary theater).
