Cinema under the stars in the Upper Susa Valley, amidst mountains and great stories
In the summer of 2026, the historic Un'Estate al Cinema festival, organized by the AMNC - National Cinema Museum Association, expands its reach for the first time to Exilles, a village of just over two hundred inhabitants nestled in the Upper Susa Valley, in the province of Turin. After years of free screenings in the neighborhoods of the Piedmontese capital and in Moncalieri, the event chooses the mountains for a special section designed to engage with the surrounding alpine landscape.
The Exilles section consists of three free evening events, spread across July and August. Screenings take place at dusk, at 9:30 PM, in two iconic local venues: the Padiglione Natura on Via degli Alpini and the Circolo Amici di Cels, in the Morliere hamlet. The selection focuses on documentaries and films related to the mountains, their silence, and the delicate balance of the communities that inhabit them.
The Exilles section is part of the broader 2026 edition of Un'Estate al Cinema, which runs from June 4th to August 8th with dozens of free events distributed between Turin, Moncalieri, and, indeed, the Upper Susa Valley. The initiative was born with the goal of making cinema an accessible and shared asset, bringing it into diverse spaces, from city theaters and courtyards to mountain villages.
Dominated by the imposing Forte di Exilles, one of the most scenic alpine fortifications in Piedmont, the town offers a natural setting of rare beauty for summer screenings. Watching a film outdoors, surrounded by the very mountains that many of the featured documentaries depict, offers an experience that goes far beyond simple viewing: it is a way to rediscover the deep bond between cinema and place.
For 2026, the Un'Estate al Cinema festival, organized by the AMNC, inaugurates a section entirely dedicated to Exilles, in the heart of the Upper Susa Valley. Three free evenings, always at 9:30 PM, offer auteur cinema deeply connected to the mountains and their landscapes. The program takes place between the Padiglione Natura on Via degli Alpini and the Circolo Amici di Cels, in the Morliere hamlet, and is part of the 2026 edition of the event, running from June 4th to August 8th across Turin, Moncalieri, and Exilles.

By car from Turin, take the A32 Turin-Bardonecchia motorway, exit at Oulx, then follow the SS24 towards Susa. By train, the reference station is Oulx-Cesana-Claviere-Sestriere, on the Turin-Bardonecchia line, with onward travel by bus or car.
All screenings are free of charge. We recommend bringing a jacket: evenings at high altitude can be cool even in summer.
