The Trofeo Mundial Beach Soccer is one of the most unique summer sporting events in the city of Cerignola, located in the province of Foggia, in the heart of the Apulian Capitanata. For this occasion, the central Piazza Duomo, set against the backdrop of the monumental Cathedral of Saint Peter the Apostle (the famous Duomo Tonti), is transformed into a full-scale beach soccer arena, complete with sand, grandstands, and floodlights for night matches.
The core of the event is the competition between the beach soccer national teams of Italy, Argentina, Brazil, and France, who battle it out in evening semi-finals and finals before the crowds in the square. Alongside beach soccer specialists, numerous former professional football stars take to the pitch; past editions have featured names such as Angelo Di Livio, Max Tonetto, Jeda, Reginaldo, and Francisco Lima, drawing in fans and curious spectators alike.
The Trofeo Mundial is about more than just sport: the event spans several days with side tournaments including beach volleyball, the Mini Beach Soccer dedicated to the youngest 'Esordienti' category, and the "Realizza un sogno" (Make a Dream Come True) amateur tournament, where amateur players can showcase their skills. The event also has a strong social and commercial focus: it highlights the work of the third sector and engages local businesses, with players making appearances at shops in the city center during the summer sales period.
Organized by the Municipality of Cerignola in collaboration with Italia Beach Soccer and the Cerignola inRete association, and supported by the Puglia Region through the "Grandi Eventi" grant, the Trofeo Mundial brings the spectacle of international beach soccer to a stunning urban setting. The decisive stages of the tournament are broadcast live on television via DAZN, Sportitalia, and Samsung TV Plus, providing national visibility to the city and the entire province of Foggia.
With free admission and the festive atmosphere of Apulian summer evenings, the Trofeo Mundial Beach Soccer is a perfect event for families, young people, and sports fans, bringing the center of Cerignola to life and combining competition, entertainment, and social spirit under the Capitanata sky.
At the moment, the dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Trofeo Mundial Beach Soccer in Cerignola have not yet been made public. The event, which in previous editions took place in Piazza Duomo in July, is expected to follow the same format of a tournament between national beach soccer teams, accompanied by side sporting and social events. Official information regarding the calendar, participating national teams, and the program will be updated as soon as it is released by the organizers.
