A road race in the heart of Misilmeri

The Trofeo Atletica Misilmeri – Bocchiaro Ricambi is a 5-kilometer road race held every year in December along the streets of the historic center of Misilmeri, a town in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, Sicily. The event is organized by the A.S.D.P. Scuola di Atletica Misilmeri in collaboration with ACSI Sicilia and under the patronage of the Municipality of Misilmeri, and is included in the national FIDAL calendar.

A route through the town's squares

The course winds entirely through the urban area, crossing Misilmeri's characteristic squares and districts: from Piazza Comitato to Piazzetta Rocco Chinnici, passing through Via Carso in the "Ran'chiusa" neighborhood. The spectators lining the streets cheer on the competitors, turning a technical race into a true community celebration of running.

Rocco Chinnici Memorial

The race is held in memory of Rocco Chinnici, the magistrate and creator of the anti-mafia pool, who was born in Misilmeri and killed by Cosa Nostra in 1983. The Memorial gives the sporting event a profound civic and commemorative significance, linking a passion for athletics with the identity of the local area.

A regional calendar event

Beyond its competitive value, the Trophy has become a prominent fixture in the Sicilian running scene over the years: the 2025 edition served as the Regional Individual Master 5 km Road Championship and as a stage of the FIDAL Palermo Provincial Circuit for youth and master categories. Hundreds of athletes gather at the starting line, with categories ranging from the youngest beginners to masters of both genders.

A year-end tradition

Taking place in the final days of December, the event is one of the most cherished dates on the Palermo provincial running calendar, successfully uniting sport, remembrance, and the life of the Misilmeri community in a single day of celebration.
