The summer gastronomic festival of Monte Colombo, featuring tripe, handmade strozzapreti, and Romagna music
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Tripe and Strozzapreti Festival is a historic summer event in the hamlet of Croce, in the Municipality of Montescudo-Monte Colombo, in the province of Rimini. Organized by the Pro Loco Monte Colombo, the event attracts thousands of visitors every year to the hills of Valconca, a few minutes from the Adriatic coast, to rediscover the authentic flavors of Emilia-Romagna's peasant cuisine.
The heart of the festival are two dishes that tell the gastronomic identity of Romagna. The tripe is patiently cooked by the village 'azdore', the cooks who are custodians of family recipes, flavored with tomato, garlic, parsley, and spices passed down through generations. The strozzapreti, fresh pasta rolled and shaped by hand, are served with rich and flavorful sauces. At the food stalls, you'll also find piadina filled with sausage, ham, or stracchino cheese, French fries, and other local specialties.
The festival is not just about food: the evenings are accompanied by live performances and dance music, with Romagna's traditional 'liscio' orchestras and dancing nights that recall the great tradition of Romagna dancing. An artisan market featuring local products and unique creations accompanies both days, while the atmosphere remains that of a convivial and family-friendly village festival.
The event takes place in a charming setting: we are in the hinterland of Rimini, in the lands once dominated by the Malatesta family's lordship, amidst medieval villages and hills that hold the signs of an ancient past. A visit to the festival is the ideal opportunity to combine good food with a discovery of the Romagna hinterland, away from the crowds of the Riviera but just a few kilometers from it.
With almost sixty years of history, the Tripe and Strozzapreti Festival is now a summer classic in Rimini. Admission is free, and the formula remains true to its original spirit: genuine dishes prepared by volunteers, affordable prices, and a great desire to be together on warm July evenings.
The 58th edition of the Tripe and Strozzapreti Festival is announced for the weekend of July 18-19, 2026 in the hamlet of Croce, Monte Colombo.
