Hot air balloons over the city: panoramic flights and Balloon Glow in the Albere district
The Balloon Fest is a brand-new event dedicated to hot air balloons, debuting in the capital of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. For an entire weekend, the iconic setting of the Albere district and the MUSE - Science Museum transforms into a stage for a flight festival designed for all ages. Colorful hot air balloons will lift off from the Ex Michelin park while remaining tethered to the ground, providing visitors with a safe yet thrilling experience and a unique perspective of the City of Trento and the Adige Valley.
The heart of the event is the tethered flights: the balloons rise into the air while remaining anchored to the ground, allowing even those who have never flown to experience the thrill of admiring the city from above. Flights run throughout the day on Saturday starting at 10:00 AM and on Sunday morning until 12:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased directly on-site at family-friendly prices.
The most enchanting moment takes place on Saturday evening. As the sun sets, the Albere park turns into an open-air theater: the balloons ignite their burners in time with the music, lighting up in synchronization like giant, spectacular colored lamps against the night sky. The Balloon Glow is a free event open to everyone, drawing families and curious onlookers into the city's green heart.
During the event, the MUSE opens its doors with flight-themed workshops and educational activities, while the Fondazione Museo Storico del Trentino offers insights at the Gianni Caproni Museum of Aeronautics, located in the Palazzo delle Albere. The event also coincides with PlayMUSE, a festival dedicated to board and role-playing games, making for a weekend where flight, science, and fun collide. There is also a food truck area nestled in the urban greenery.
The Balloon Fest is a collaboration between Kilometro Azzurro, the Trentino aeronautical district and creator of the Festivolare format, the MUSE, and the Trento Tourist Board. It is a project that celebrates the region's passion for flight and enriches the city's summer calendar with a spectacular event suitable for the whole family.
The debut of the Balloon Fest enlivened the Albere district on June 6 and 7, 2026. Colorful hot air balloons lifted off from the Ex Michelin park while remaining tethered to the ground, offering safe panoramic flights starting from 10:00 AM on Saturday until 12:00 PM on Sunday. On Saturday evening, the Balloon Glow transformed the park into an open-air theater, with balloons illuminated in rhythm with the music. In parallel, the MUSE and the Caproni Museum at Palazzo delle Albere offered flight-themed workshops during a weekend intertwined with PlayMUSE.
The Balloon Fest takes place in the Ex Michelin park, in the Albere district, next to the MUSE - Science Museum, just a few minutes' walk from the Trento train station. By car, it can be reached from the Trento Centro exit on the A22 Brenner motorway; we recommend using city parking lots and public transport.
Tickets for hot air balloon flights can be purchased on-site: 10 euros for adults, 5 euros for children. Admission to the MUSE during the event is free, as is the evening Balloon Glow show. The flight schedule depends on weather conditions and is subject to change.
The event is family-friendly; we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and bringing a light jacket for the evening Balloon Glow.
