Live music on the Trebbia riverbank, in Travo
Every year, in July, the small village of Travo, in the province of Piacenza, becomes the capital of live music in southern Emilia-Romagna for one evening. Travo BalaFolk is the summer festival organized by the Fedro cooperative, a Piacenza-based entity specializing in the production of cultural events, which has been enlivening the summer in the area for years with concerts, literary reviews, and live events along the Trebbia Valley.
The setting is one of the most evocative imaginable: the equipped area along the Trebbia river, at the Travo Sports Field, just a stone's throw from the waters of the Trebbia river that has made this valley famous. It is here, every July 11th, that a major concert evening takes place, attracting audiences from all over the province of Piacenza and beyond.
Born as an event for popular and folk music - hence the name BalaFolk - the festival has broadened its horizons over the years, hosting some of the most representative names in Italian song and rock. Recent editions have featured beloved artists: in 2025, for the ninth edition, the historic band I Nomadi took the stage, one of the longest-running groups in Italian music.
The 2026 edition marks an important milestone, the tenth anniversary of the festival, and celebrates it with an exceptional guest: PFM - Premiata Forneria Marconi, a flagship band of Italian progressive rock.
Travo is a municipality in the Trebbia Valley, in the hilly hinterland of the province of Piacenza, in Emilia-Romagna. Overlooking the Trebbia river, it is a popular destination for hiking, swimming in the river, and its historical and archaeological heritage. The Travo BalaFolk evening is part of a broader summer program by Fedro, which distributes concerts and events between Travo, Bobbio, and other villages in the valley from June to August.
For its tenth anniversary, Travo BalaFolk chooses a top name in Italian rock: PFM - Premiata Forneria Marconi. The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 9:30 PM, at the Travo Sports Field, along the Trebbia riverbank.
The band presents its new tour "Doppia Traccia", a show that intertwines the two worlds dear to the group's fans: on one hand, the great classics of the progressive repertoire, and on the other, a tribute to Fabrizio De André, with whom PFM forged one of the most celebrated collaborations in Italian music in the late seventies.
The show is divided into two parts: the first dedicated to the band's greatest hits, the second to the tribute to Fabrizio De André ("PFM canta De André"), celebrating the historic collaboration between the group and the singer-songwriter from Genoa.
On stage, the historic lineup of PFM: Franz Di Cioccio (vocals, drums), Patrick Djivas (bass), Lucio Fabbri (violin, backing vocals), Alessandro Scaglione (keyboards, backing vocals), Marco Sfogli (guitar), Eugenio Mori (second drums), with the participation of Luca Zabbini (keyboards, guitar, vocals). Flavio Premoli, the band's historic keyboardist, is expected to attend the event.
Travo can be reached by car from Piacenza by taking the SS45 of the Trebbia Valley towards Bobbio, with an exit towards the center of Travo (about 30 km from the provincial capital). The Sports Field is located on the Trebbia riverbank, at the entrance to the town.
Admission is paid. Tickets are available for presale on Ticketone. For the 2026 edition, prices start from approximately 33 euros plus booking fees.
As this is an evening outdoor event in a riverside area, it is advisable to bring a sweatshirt or light jacket for the evening. It is recommended to arrive early for parking and access to the area.
Organization by Fedro Cooperativa. For tourist information, the IAT of Bobbio and Trebbia Valley is available.
