Books and authors among the villages of Val Trebbia, in Gazzola
TempEstiva is the scattered literary festival that animates Val Trebbia every year, in the Municipality of Gazzola, province of Piacenza (Emilia-Romagna). Born from the desire to bring culture outside conventional venues, the festival chooses the most beautiful villages, squares, and views of the valley as its stage: each encounter is also an opportunity to discover a corner of the territory. The artistic direction is entrusted to Elisa Salin, while the organization is handled by the Gazzola Municipal Library together with the Trebbiashire association.
Unlike large festivals concentrated in a few days, TempEstiva unfolds throughout the summer with three events spread between spring and early autumn. This "slow time" formula allows for dedicating the right attention to each guest and guiding the public through a journey that changes location and atmosphere each time. The encounters take place in the evening, often outdoors, and include a dialogue with the author, readings, and direct interaction with readers.
The common thread of the review is the relationship between narrative and places: each evening connects a book with the landscape that hosts it, enhancing the link between the written page and the identity of Val Trebbia. Over the years, the festival has earned a loyal audience, becoming one of the most anticipated cultural events in the summer calendar of Gazzola and the Piacenza valley.
The encounters are free admission, with reservations recommended to secure a seat. The intimate setting and the choice of locations such as country clubs, historic villages, and town squares make each evening an experience that combines good reading, conviviality, and discovery of the territory.
The fifth edition of TempEstiva confirms the scattered format of the festival, with three evenings spread throughout the summer in as many locations in Val Trebbia, within the Municipality of Gazzola. The 2026 program features three prominent voices in Italian fiction and, for the first time, brings the festival to the evocative Village of Rivalta. The artistic direction is by Elisa Salin; the organization is by the Gazzola Municipal Library with the Trebbiashire association.
All events are free admission; seat reservation is appreciated.
The events take place in various locations within the Municipality of Gazzola (PC) and Val Trebbia: Croara Country Club, the Village of Rivalta, and Piazza Roma in Gazzola.
Gazzola is located in the province of Piacenza, in Val Trebbia. By car, it can be reached from Piacenza in about 25-30 minutes. The nearest train station is Piacenza, well-connected to the national network; from there, continue by car towards the valley.
Free admission to all events. Seat reservation is recommended and can be made via the social media pages of the Municipality of Gazzola, the Trebbiashire association, or on Eventbrite.
