Swimming across the Lario

The Traversata del Lario is a non-competitive swim across Lake Como between Onno, a hamlet of Oliveto Lario in the province of Lecco, and Mandello del Lario, on the opposite shore. Every summer, this event attracts swimmers of all levels, united by the desire to cross one of Italy's most picturesque bodies of water with their strokes.

Two Races, Two Distances

The event features two courses: the short race of 1,500 meters, from Onno to Mandello, and the long race of 3,000 meters, with a Mandello-Onno-Mandello route. The short race starts from the Onno pier, while the long race begins from the Mandello shore. This format allows both experienced and amateur swimmers to experience the lake in a unique way, with safety guaranteed by the organization.

Sport and Territory

Organized by the Pro Loco of Mandello del Lario in collaboration with the Municipalities of Mandello del Lario and Oliveto Lario, the Traversata del Lario is much more than a race: it's a celebration that connects the two shores of the lake. Lunch for the athletes and convivial moments complete a day that celebrates the bond between the Larian communities and their lake, in the heart of the province of Lecco.
