Music and shows on Lake Como, from May to September
The Varenna Festival is the musical review that every year, from May to September, transforms the village of Varenna, on the eastern branch of Lake Como in the province of Lecco, into an open-air stage. Concerts and shows follow one another in some of the most scenic spots on the Lario: Piazza San Giorgio, the gardens of Villa Cipressi, and the Church of Santa Marta.
The program ranges across different genres and styles: classical and chamber music, opera-concerts, jazz, film scores, and evenings dedicated to tributes to the great names of international music. A broad and varied program, designed for a diverse audience, from lovers of classical music to families on holiday by the lake.
All events of the Varenna Festival are free admission: a choice that confirms the festival's mission to make culture accessible and to promote the territory through quality events. An initiative that enhances Varenna and the entire Larian Lombardy as a cultural and tourist destination.
The Varenna Festival 2026, its seventh edition, runs from late May to September with a program ranging from classical music to pop. The curtain rises on Saturday, May 31, at 6 PM at Villa Cipressi with a concert by the Milano Virtuosa Trio, a chamber ensemble composed of Anna Glibchuk (violin), Gianfranco Messina (viola), and Luca Russo Rossi (cello).
From the end of May to September.
