About Trail delle Rocche
A race in the heart of the Roero
The Trail delle Rocche del Roero is the running event that brings Montà to life every spring. Located in the province of Cuneo, this town overlooks the famous Rocche del Roero in Piedmont. The event leads participants along paths that wind through the characteristic geological amphitheaters of the Rocche—deep incisions in the terrain sculpted over centuries by erosion—passing through shady woods, gullies, and the vineyards that shape the UNESCO-listed hills of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato.
Courses for every level
The trail is designed to welcome athletes of all levels, from experienced runners to those simply looking for a walk in nature. The distances offered are:
- Long Trail 20 km (competitive) with approximately 650 meters of elevation gain, the most challenging route;
- Short Trail 10 km (competitive and non-competitive) with approximately 300-350 meters of elevation gain;
- Family Walk, a non-competitive walk of about 5-7 km on the Ecomuseum trails, suitable for families and those who want to enjoy the landscape without a stopwatch.
The tracks wind entirely through the trail network of the Ecomuseo delle Rocche del Roero, offering views that range from dense forests to the orderly vineyards of the territory.
Start and meeting point
The event headquarters is the municipal swimming pool parking lot in Montà, at via Ferruccio Novo 9, which serves as the meeting point, start, and finish line. From here, runners head out onto the trails before returning to the finish, where they are welcomed with refreshments and a lunch included in the race pack.
Organizers
The event is organized by the Polisportiva Montatese in collaboration with the Ecomuseo delle Rocche del Roero and with the patronage of the Municipality of Montà. In recent years, the trail has been relaunched with renewed enthusiasm, receiving praise for the maintenance of the trails and the organization, and it is now established as one of the most enjoyable nature runs in the Roero racing calendar.

The 5th edition of the Trail delle Rocche del Roero animated Montà on Saturday, April 25, 2026, taking advantage of the holiday weekend to attract runners and walkers from all over Piedmont and beyond. Meeting from the early hours of the morning at the municipal swimming pool parking lot, in a festive sporting atmosphere among the hills of the Roero.

- 09:00 — Start Long Trail 20 km (competitive, ~650 m D+)
- 09:15 — Start Short Trail 10 km (competitive and non-competitive, ~300-350 m D+)
- Following — Start Family Walk (~5-7 km, non-competitive)
All routes were developed on the trails of the Ecomuseo delle Rocche del Roero, among geological amphitheaters, forests, and vineyards, with the meeting point, start, and finish at the municipal swimming pool parking lot in Montà (via Ferruccio Novo 9).

How to get there
Montà is located in the Roero region, in the province of Cuneo. By car, it can be reached from Turin or Asti by following the signs for Roero; the meeting point and start are at the municipal swimming pool parking lot, at via Ferruccio Novo 9. The reference railway station is Alba, from which you can continue by car or local transport.
Registration
Registration is done online via the Wedosport platform (www.wedosport.net) and, subject to availability, on the day of the race at the meeting point. For competitive races, a FIDAL membership, a sports promotion body membership, or a RUN CARD is required, in addition to a valid medical certificate for competitive sports.
Tips
Trail shoes are recommended for the dirt paths of the Rocche. GPX tracks of the routes are available on the official website.
