A trail run through the scenic hills of Prarostino
The Trail del Faro is a trail running race that draws mountain running enthusiasts every spring to the hills of Prarostino, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Turin overlooking the Pinerolo area, at the gateway to the Waldensian Valleys. The race, organized by the Associazione Sportiva Mente under the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Turin, takes its name from the famous lighthouse that overlooks the municipal territory, serving as a panoramic landmark for the entire region.
The route spans 12 kilometers with a positive elevation gain of 600 meters, following trails and mule tracks that wind through woods, vineyards, and ridges. It is a challenging course yet accessible to well-trained amateurs, rewarded above all by the spectacular views of the Pinerolo plains that open up along the way. The start is set in the San Bartolomeo hamlet, in Piazza della Libertà, the heart of the event.
The Trail del Faro is included as the third stage of the Trofeo delle Valli, a running circuit that awards an overall ranking based on the various stages held across the territory. Participating in the Prarostino race means competing not only against the clock in a single event but also for the overall trophy ranking, attracting runners from all over Piedmont.
Beyond the competition, the Trail del Faro is a festive moment for the Prarostino community. At the end of the race, a complimentary lunch for all participating athletes is provided, offering a convivial occasion to wrap up the morning on the trails in high spirits. Prizes in kind are also awarded to the top finishers in various categories, including the Over 50s. The event serves as a showcase for promoting the hiking trails and the hilly landscape of this corner of Piedmont.
