About Trail dei Guadi

Trail dei Guadi is a scenic 14-kilometre trail race winding through the hills of the Val di Chiana, in the municipality of Civitella in Val di Chiana, in the province of Arezzo. Starting and finishing in the village of Oliveto, the route alternates between gravel roads, woodland trails, and the climb towards the medieval village of Civitella, offering stunning views of the Tuscan countryside. Established in 2026 by the Polisportiva Albergo Oliveto, the event features both a competitive race and a non-competitive walk open to everyone.

A new race in the heart of the Val di Chiana

The Trail dei Guadi is a fresh trail running event that brings the hills of the Val di Chiana to life, located in the municipality of Civitella in Val di Chiana, in the province of Arezzo. The event's headquarters is the village of Oliveto, which hosts the meeting point, start, and finish line, with the local theatre serving as the logistics base.

The route

The course covers approximately 14 kilometres with a total elevation gain of +400 metres: a challenging yet accessible loop for those who love running in nature. From the start on Via delle Scuole, runners face the climb towards Civitella, one of the most picturesque medieval villages in the Arezzo area, before diverting towards Ciggiano and crossing a wooded section. The route leads back to Civitella, from where it descends towards Oliveto for the grand finale. Between gravel roads and forest trails, it is an itinerary that showcases the rolling landscape of the Tuscan countryside.

Competitive race and fun walk

The event offers two ways to participate: the competitive race, reserved for those who want to test themselves against the clock, and a non-competitive walk open to all, designed for families and enthusiasts who prefer to enjoy the scenery without the pressure of time. A refreshment station is provided halfway through the course, while a race pack and awards ceremony await participants at the finish line.

A community celebration

Organised by the Polisportiva Albergo Oliveto with the patronage of the Municipality of Civitella in Val di Chiana and the collaboration of the UISP of Arezzo, the Trail dei Guadi is, above all, a village festival: the inaugural edition brought together over 150 participants thanks to the teamwork of the entire community and numerous volunteers. A spring event that combines sport, nature, and local tradition in one of the most authentic corners of Tuscany.
