About Traditions Friends and Food

Traditions Friends and Food is a three-day food and wine festival in Montefalcione, in the heart of Irpinia, promoted by the Le 10P association. Street food, local product stalls, Fiano di Avellino DOCG masterclasses, folk music, and DJ sets enliven the covered market area on Via Toppa, overlooking the Montevergine massif. It is a free-entry event designed for all ages, featuring an inflatable play area for children and a grand fireworks display to close the festivities.

A summer event that brings together food, music, and community

Traditions Friends and Food is the food and wine festival that transforms Montefalcione, a town in the province of Avellino in Campania, into a vibrant social hub every summer. Founded in 2023 by the Le 10P association, led by Felice D'Amore, the event has built its identity around three simple words: traditions, friends, and food. The result is a modern village festival where traditional Irpinian dishes coexist with professional street food, and folk music meets DJ sets.

From the municipal gardens to the covered market area

The first editions were held in Piazza Marconi and later in the municipal gardens. Since 2026, the event has moved to the covered market area on Via Toppa, a larger, partially sheltered space that provides protection from the summer heat and rain while offering an open view of the Montevergine massif. The new layout has allowed for an expansion of the stalls, the dining area, and spaces dedicated to families.

What to eat

Cuisine is the heart of the event: dishes from the local Irpinian peasant tradition alternate with offerings from professional street food vendors. Among the most popular specialties in the various editions:

  • caciocavallo impiccato (hanged caciocavallo cheese), melted over embers and served on homemade bread;
  • cotechino sandwich, one of the symbols of the early editions;
  • fried foods, gourmet sandwiches, and freshly prepared street food;
  • local wines, with Fiano di Avellino DOCG as the absolute star, thanks to the wineries of Montefalcione.

Music, contests, and fireworks

Every evening has its own soundtrack: Irpinian folk music, 80s and 90s revivals, and DJ sets that keep the crowd going until late at night. In 2026, the event hosted the regional live broadcast of Radio Punto Nuovo, the free-entry Traditions Voice singing contest, and a spectacular aerial fireworks display on a 40-meter tower, a first for the town. Next to the stage, the inflatable play area allows children to have fun while adults dineโ€”a feature that has made the event particularly popular with families.

Montefalcione and the Irpinia of Fiano

Montefalcione is part of the production area for Fiano di Avellino DOCG, one of the most distinctive white wines of Southern Italy. The village, with just over three thousand inhabitants perched on a hill between the Sabato valley and the Partenio mountains, maintains a strong tradition of community festivals, from the patronal celebrations of Saint Anthony of Padua to summer food festivals. Traditions Friends and Food fits into this calendar as the youngest and most gastronomic appointment, capable of attracting visitors from neighboring towns and the Avellino area.

Why you should attend

  • free admission and informal atmosphere, suitable for couples, groups of friends, and families;
  • guided tastings and masterclasses on Irpinian wine;
  • covered space, usable even in case of rain;
  • evening program that combines tradition and contemporary entertainment.

Those arriving in Montefalcione for the event can easily combine it with visits to local wineries and the villages of Irpinia, from Atripalda to Montemarano, during one of the liveliest seasons of the year for the region.

Traditions Friends and Food โ€” edition 2026

The third edition of Traditions Friends and Food took place in Montefalcione from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, 2026, with a new venue: the covered market area on Via Toppa. Three evenings of street food, typical Irpinian products, folk music, and DJ sets, enriched by a masterclass on Fiano di Avellino DOCG, the Traditions Voice 2026 singing contest, and a grand aerial fireworks display.

After the previous year's break, the Le 10P association brought its most anticipated event back to Montefalcione, moving it to the covered market area on Via Toppa: a larger space, partially sheltered from the sun and rain, with a view of the Montevergine massif.

For the first time, the town hosted street food curated by industry professionals, alongside traditional Irpinian stalls. The soundtrack was provided by folk music and DJ sets, while the inflatable play area allowed children to have fun safely. From the very first evening, attendance exceeded the organizers' expectations.

Sunday featured the most anticipated events: the masterclass on Fiano di Avellino DOCG in collaboration with Montefalcione wineries, the first edition of the Traditions Voice 2026 contest, and, in closing, a spectacular aerial fireworks display on a 40-meter tower, never seen before in the town.
