Local crafts and traditions in Piazza Municipio, Gricignano di Aversa
The Trades Festival is the event that celebrates ancient crafts and local artisanal traditions in the heart of Gricignano di Aversa, in the province of Caserta. Hosted in Piazza Municipio, the event transforms the public square into a path dedicated to manual labor, creativity, and the passing down of knowledge between generations.
The initiative serves as the culmination of the Laboratori dei Mestieri, a project promoted by the Forum delle Associazioni with the involvement of local community groups. Designed primarily for children and teenagers, the program aims to reconnect young people with the value of artisanal work and the culture of 'knowing how to do,' moving away from screens and toward hands-on activities.
At the heart of the festival lies an educational journey that weaves together tradition and creativity. Through these workshops, participants have the opportunity to learn and experiment with ancient skills, rediscovering the heritage of local trades and the significance of artisanal work. It is an experience designed to stimulate manual dexterity and socialization, offering young people a concrete opportunity for learning and community exchange.
During the Trades Festival, the square hosts an exhibition of works created by the young participants: an event open to the entire community, where the results of the workshops become shared heritage and a starting point for dialogue between young and old. The atmosphere is that of a community celebration, where the transmission of crafts is accompanied by the pleasure of meeting and participating.
The Trades Festival is part of the rich summer calendar that the Municipality of Gricignano di Aversa, together with the Forum delle Associazioni and the Forum dei Giovani, dedicates to citizens of all ages. A program of events designed to enhance the town's social and associative fabric and to offer moments of culture, tradition, and sharing in Campania. The festival thus represents not only a showcase of trades but also a key piece of the identity and collective life of this town in the Aversa area.
The 2026 Trades Festival was held on Friday, July 3, starting at 7:30 PM, in Piazza Municipio in Gricignano di Aversa. Organized by the Forum delle Associazioni, the evening represented the grand finale of the Trades Workshops, the project dedicated to reconnecting young people with the value of artisanal work and local traditions.
The square hosted an exhibition of works created by the young participants, in a journey open to the public through trades and traditions. The event, with free admission, confirmed itself as an opportunity for meeting and sharing between generations, included in the summer calendar promoted by the Municipality together with the Forum delle Associazioni and the Forum dei Giovani.
